American Vampire: The Long Road to Hell Special #1 (Vertigo)
Andy: My favorite read this week. Suspensful. Emotional. Resonating. It’s FUCKING GREAT! 5/5
Arnab: Hell. Yes. This is what vampires are all about. Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque kill it on this issue.
Astonishing X-Men #63 (Marvel)
Andy: Liu’s expertly pulling from Iceman’s past, with impacting moments based on lore established by Austin, Lobdell & Carey.
Arnab: This, I like. I feel like Iceman is possessed. Or! It’s that AoA Iceman back from the dead. I don’t know. I’m okay with that.
Jeff: I was really hoping they’d reveal what was going on with Bobby. Because they didn’t feels like it’s dragging out too long.
Avenging Spider-Man #22 (Marvel)
Jeff: It’s really a shame that they’re canceling this book in the middle of a story arc. I know it will continue elsewhere, but it’s still a shame.
Batman #21 (DC)
Andy: A solid start for “Zero Year” — accessible for new readers and a nice sidestep from the death-fallout stuff in other Bat books.
Arnab: This was a good start for the “Zero Year”, but I feel like I might get tired of this year long flashback.
Dr. Bustos: I still don’t know if Bruce Wayne flipping off the Red Hood is the funniest or worst thing. B-
Jeff: This is a good jumping on point if you’ve wanted to start reading Snyder & Capullo’s Batman.
Batman: Li’l Gotham #3 (DC)
Arnab: I love this book more than I can say.
Dr. Bustos: Joker’s wild Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year (this holiday doesn’t get enough specials) with Katana and Robin. Of course I liked this one. A
Bravest Warriors #9 (kaboom!)
Dr. Bustos: Nice solo adventure for Beth, nothing high stakes or drawn out, but still fun. B
Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: By page 2, panel 2 I was completely sucked in. A moving and very real experience.
Deadpool #11 (Marvel)
Arnab: Funniest. Issue. Yet.
Dr. Bustos: Deadpool vs. Daredevil goes down the way I figure it would, still fun. B+
Green Lantern Corps #21 (DC)
Andy: Felt a lot like “Green Lantern” #21… I can get over it as long as John Stewart gets the strong writing he deserves.
Guardians of the Galaxy #3 (Marvel)
Jeff: I hate to say it, but McNiven and Pichelli’s work doesn’t work together. Kick McNiven off and let Sara draw!
Half Past Danger #2 (IDW)
Andy: This is filing the “Xenozoic” void in my habit! If you dig dinosaurs, Nazi bashing, deadly dames or espionage READ IT!
Joe Hill’s Thumbprint #1 (IDW)
Andy: Didn’t think I’d like it, but it’s rooted in a scary reality. I’m debating going directly to the novella.
Mega Man #26 (Archie)
Andy: The “World’s Collide” Sonic x-over’s a lot of fun, but this issue dragged. Although Mega Man’s weapon rotation was way cool!
Savage Wolverine #6 (Marvel)
Andy: I really like Joe Mad’s Wolverine! Also, the Spidey on the cover is #notSuperiorSpiderMan. #Chillax
Jeff: Joe Mad hasn’t missed a beat. This book is so much fun.
Star Wars #6 (Dark Horse)
Andy: Carlos D’Anda’s spaceships look phenomenal! But I’m confused — didn’t The Devastator blow up at the Battle of Endor?
Superman Unchained #1 (DC)
Andy: As a Superman skeptic, it was OK. Definitely not bad — far from it — but also not the grand slam I was expecting.
Arnab: Can I get a “Hell… Meh!” If you picked it up, which you probably did hoping to read some masterful storytelling by Scott Snyder, you know what you got. If you didn’t, you didn’t miss much.
Thor: God of Thunder #9 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: This is the best metal album ever. A
Jeff: King Thor brings the pain! This is such a terrific story. Can’t wait to get the collected edition.
True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: Hasn’t found its legs quite yet but I like it. The art’s great and I’m OK with not knowing everything.
Arnab: I have no idea what’s happening in this book, but that last page has got me hooked for at least one more issue.
Uncanny X-Force #6 (Marvel)
Andy: Now it feels like Humphries has found a groove with this team — his personality really shone through in this issue.
Jeff: When the bulk of this issue takes place in a flock of sheep, then you know you have a problem.
The Walking Dead #111 (Image)
Andy: Awesome! Fuck that guy!!
Arnab: That was fabulous. I don’t like either of those guys, but yeah!
Jeff: Negan continues to be a surprising character. My hope is that somehow, they keep him around as part of Rick’s group.
Wolverine #4 (Marvel)
Jeff: Well, that certainly didn’t make any sense.
Wolverine and the X-Men #31 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: The Hellfire Academy has a lot of comedy potential in making tomorrow’s villains, today. A
Jeff: This book doesn’t excite me anymore. Quit showing ridiculous stuff like Snot and tell a real story.

Andy, this story takes place BEFORE the Endor battle.
