Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 06/05/13

CHIRPBANNER1

Age of Ultron #9 (Marvel)
Jeff: They have no idea what they’re doing with this, do they?

All-New Secret Skullkickers #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: One of the best comics on the shelves today!

anxm 12All-New X-Men #12 (Marvel)
Arnab: Anyone that can rationalize Scarlet Witch being on the Avengers and Cyclops being hunted down is no friend to the mutants.
Infinite Speech: And to think I was going to pass on this series when it started! What the hell was I thinking?!
Jeff: I couldn’t help but feel like this issue was filler and didn’t move the story along very well.

Archer & Armstrong #10 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: The best buddy comic out there NOW!
Jeff: I love that they’ve kept the visual tone with Henry, Luppachino, and now Pere Perez. This is how you do it, folks.

Avengers Arena #10 (Marvel)
Jeff: I didn’t think I would have such a visceral reaction to the last page, but I stood up and said, “NOOOOO!!!”

Batwing #21 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Like the new direction but not really liking the new costume.

Bedlam #7 (Image)
Arnab: If you’re not reading this, you are missing out on some amazingly creepy fun.
Jeff: The flashbacks to Madder Red’s heyday are so disturbing, which makes the character of Fillmore all the more interesting.

Cable & X-Force #9 (Marvel)
Arnab: Those pesky Avengers are getting more annoying than Wolverine.
Jeff: What the hell are those boxes on the side of Captain America’s head? C’mon Larroca…you were doing so well!

Daredevil: End of Days #8 (Marvel)
Jeff: A super-satisfying ending to a really well-done mini-series. Pick up the trade!

Earth 2 #13 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This title snuck up on me and I’m liking it.

eow 3East of West #3 (Image)
Arnab:
I have absolutely no idea where this story is going, but it I love it.
Jeff Lake:
Can Death have a heart? Hickman again hits all the right notes, and the art is killer. Buy it!

Green Lantern #21 (DC)
Jeff Lake: The post-Johns era begins. Nothing new here, but still a fun multicolored romp.

Locke & Key: Omega #5 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: There’s a short list of perfect comics and Locke & Key has been on it since the first issue in the first volume.
Jeff: This is, hands down, the best comic book on the shelves for every conceivable reason.

Lone Wolf 2100 Omnibus (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Post apocalyptic samurai greatness!

Rachel Rising #17 (Abstract Studios)
Jeff: Lots of things got eviscerated by evil animals in this issue.

Red She-Hulk #66 (Marvel)

Dr. Bustos: Alternate reality where things go from bad to worse when Banner doesn’t become the Hulk. A

Spawn #232 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Kudranski is an artistic BEAST!

superior spiderman 11Superior Spider-Man #11 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Doc Ock as Spidey is at his best when he is using his old skills and memories to best his opponents. A
Infinite Speech: Peter is gone so get over it! This is still a damn good series!
Jeff: I know Speech and Dan disagree, but this is some of the worst art I’ve ever seen. Camuncoli does not fit on this book.

Thanos Rising #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Yeah, I’m really enjoying this so far.
Jeff: I kept thinking, “Thanos doesn’t have kids…” then WHAM! I see why.

Thunderbolts #10 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: $5 to the first person to come punch me in the face for reading this comic.

Victories #2 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Thank you, Oeming!

X-Factor #257 (Marvel)
Arnab: I would really like it if this series ended with a Marvel Universe shattering ending.
Jeff: Peter David, what happened? Please wrap this up well.
