Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12/21/2011

Amazing Spider-Man #676 (Marvel)
Jeff: An old-school super-villain battle royale! And no Spidey in sight! Fantastic issue!

Avengers #20 (Marvel)
Capekiller: Acuna’s art is soooooooooo bad that it is difficult to concentrate on the story.

Batman #4 (DC)
Arnab: Little Bruce going on a detective hunt for the Court of Owls is pretty much the coolest thing ever.

Batman Incorporated: Leviathan Strikes #1 (DC)
Arnab: Absolutely amazing! Seriously, this is what makes Grant Morrison so damn awesome. And Cameron Stewart and Chris Burnham’s art was phenomenal.

BPRD.: Hell On Earth #4 (of 5)
Capekiller: Johan Kraus being has usual awesome self.  This book has a great tone to it.

Generation Hope #14 (Marvel)
Capekiller: This series continues to destroy the legend that was Messiah Complex.
Jeff: It’s about time Martha got a body.

The Invincible Iron Man #511 (Marvel)
Capekiller: Too much emphasis on Stark Resilient might be killing this book.

New Mutants #35 (Marvel)
Capekiller: Battling a super powered rock band seems somewhat familiar…..
Jeff: This book is a waste of characters.

Nightwing #4 (DC)
Arnab: I don’t really like new Barbara Gordon, she’s gotten emotionally younger.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #5 (IDW)
Arnab: Yet another excellent issue. The history story was absolutely tragic.

Thunderbolts #167 (Marvel)
Capekiller: Great series.  The Jack the Ripper saga ends and the Black Knight saga is about to begin.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #5 (Marvel)
Jeff: Samuel L. Jackson must be ridiculously easy to draw, ’cause everyone can do it.

Uncanny X-Force #19 (Marvel)
Arnab: Who’s blue and the biggest hypocrite in comics? That’s right, it’s Beast. Why’s this fool still alive?
Capekiller: Another great installment of Force.  Love the various character developments in this story.
Jeff: Wow, Wolverine came clean with Beast about X-Force. Why isn’t Beast leaving then?

Wolverine #20 (Marvel)
Capekiller: Wolverine gets sucked into another Japanese feudal war.
Jeff: This was a really great story, but my God, Renato Guedes’ art is terrible. Wolverine’s claws are not curved!

Wolverine & the X-Men #3 (Marvel)
Arnab: As much as I thoroughly enjoyed Bobby kicking ass last week, this was by far my favorite issue of the series.
Capekiller: All kinds of awesome, and Quentin Quire teams up with Krakoa to be the hero!  So cool!!!
Jeff: This issue suffered from too many artists, even though most were quality artists.

X-Factor #229 (Marvel)
Arnab: Madrox is all kinds of awesome. Shatterstar and Longshot? I wonder if that’s their relationship in the real world.
Jeff:
Finally, the focus is back on Madrox! This was an awesome issue!
