Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze To Helm New ‘Black Panther’ Series!

Ta-Nehisi Coates and Brian Stelfreeze To Helm New ‘Black Panther’ Series!

As announced in the New York Times earlier today, we’ll get to see Black Panther back in his own series which will debut in the Spring of 2016! The creative team that will be guiding T’Challa on his adventures will be written by Ta-Nehisi Coates with art from the talented Brian Stelfreeze!

It was only a matter of time before Marvel made an announcement regarding a new Black Panther solo series.  His film was announced last year, there were references to his homeland in the recent Avengers: Age of Ultron movie, and he’ll be making an appearance in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War as well. His presence in comics has also increased over the past few years as he’s played some key roles that helped to move major storylines.

The initial “Black Panther” arc is described as a “yearlong storyline,” and is titled “A Nation Under Our Feet,” a deliberate reference to the 2003 Steven Hahn book of the same name. The Marvel story is said to “find the hero dealing with a violent uprising in his country set off by a superhuman terrorist group called the People.”

It’s been some time since we’ve seen Black Panther in his own series and with everything that’s happened to him these past few years this is a great time to explore the character and where he’s at now.

Also released today was the image for Marvel’s Hip Hop Variant Cover for Black Panther, also by Brian Stelfreeze!
