Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 09/26/12

“Adventure Time” #8 (kaboom!)
Dr. Bustos: More future time battles and Bill and Ted level’s of time travel fixing. A

“Amazing Spider-Man” #694 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Seemed a bit too nice and tidy of an ending but at least Alpha ended up looking like an ass when it was all over.
Jeff: I was looking forward to Spidey really having a sidekick. Not sure I liked how this ended up. I hope Andy MacGuire is a recurring character.

“American Vampire” #31 (Vertigo)
Arnab: Why Scott Snyder? Why have Pearl cheat on Henry?! A
Jeff: I’m sorry, but I just don’t like Pearl now after she slept with Skinner. Although I did like that last page!

“Aquaman” #0 (DC)
Arnab: Not a lot happens here, but it looks gorgeous. B
Dr. Bustos: Compared to the other Issue Zero comics, this one was just okay since the others were informative and entertaining and this was mostly exposition. B-

“Astonishing X-Men” #54 (Marvel)
Arnab: What in the hell is happening in this book? Why is this Karma arc still going on? B-
Infinite Speech: Ugh…why is this title still on the shelf?
Jeff: Ok, if Iceman makes it out of this and AoA Iceman didn’t make it out of being thrown in a furnace, I’m going to be pissed.

“Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Promise” Pt 3 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech:
Just as fun as watching the show and I can’t wait to read this as a collected series!

Batman Incorporated” #0 (DC)
Arnab: A nice introduction/reintroduction to team Batman Incorporated. Batman’s got a strong team and it was nice to get a recap on who all of them are. A-
Dr. Bustos: Finally, a return of the other members, I love these characters and want them forever, DC will hurt me for my love. A

“Blackburn Burrow” #1 (12-Guage)
Infinite Speech: It’s Free! It’s a supernatural western! It’s from Ron Marz & Matthew Dow Smith! Pick this up!

“Captain Marvel” #4 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: The time travel is getting all sorts of twisty-turney, timey-wimey, excited to follow it. A

“The Flash” #0 (DC)
Arnab: Awesome issue. Best/Saddest part was when little Barry was like “but I haven’t shown her my trophy yet.” A
Dr. Bustos:
I really don’t like the gritty new part of Barry’s back story, it seems needless. C

“Gambit” #3 (Marvel)
Arnab: Gambit is so much cooler when he’s not tagging along with Wolverine or pining over Rogue. B+
Dr. Bustos:
This was basically a Indiana Jones plot but with Gambit and a Cthulhu ending, that’s fine with me. A
Jeff: The less this book stays grounded in a heist-type of crime story, the less I like it.

“Invincible” #95 (Image)
Dr. Bustos: Learning what caused Robot to be so cold to Monster Girl, doesn’t seem petty since he got brutally beaten for what she did. B

“Invincible Iron Man” #525 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I enjoy stories of people fighting in robot suits, this delivered that several times over. A
Infinite Speech: FINALLY! Mandarin gets his hands/rings dirty and throws down with Iron Man and his rogues!

“Mars Attacks” #4 (IDW)
Infinite Speech:
There are no excuses as to why you shouldn’t be checking this series out!

“The New Deadwardians” #7 (Vertigo)
Jeff: Be sure to pick this up in trade when it comes out. It’s a cool story.

“Rachel Rising” #11 (Abstract Studios)
Jeff: That last page is one of the best panels I’ve ever seen.

“Secret Avengers” #31 (Marvel)
Jeff: World’s worst babysitter. Ha!

“Skullkickers” #18 (Image)
Infinite Speech:
Damn you Zub! Noooooo!!!!!

“Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow” #17 (IDW)
Infinite Speech:
These are the stories G.I. Joe fans deserve!

“Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation2” #5 (IDW)
Dr. Bustos: I don’t think time works that way in Who, but they always change the rules and it got Picard in the TARDIS. B+

“Teen Titans” #0 (DC)
Arnab:
The “Make Tim Drake Insignificant Plan” is in full effect. He doesn’t figure out who Batman is, he isn’t Robin, and his name isn’t even Tim Drake. Filth. D-
Infinite Speech:
The best Robin backstory is right here! Though it would have bee nice to get an origin on another team member.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” #14 (IDW)
Arnab:
I read this issue and immediately felt left out because I wasn’t a part of their family. A
Infinite Speech:
Shredder drops a bomb at the end of yet another awesome issue in this series!

“Voodoo” #0 (DC)
Infinite Speech:
Going to miss this character. I don’t like Grifter enough to want to continue reading about Voodoo.

“Witchblade” #160 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech:
Saw the set up a mile away but it was a solid issue.

“Wolverine” #313 (Marvel)
Jeff: This arc was simply ridiculous.

“Wolverine & the X-Men” #17 (Marvel)
Arnab: and… dropped. Also, gross. C-
Dr. Bustos: A story that spotlights the weird world of Doop, Doop is the best there is. Period. A+
Infinite Speech: Why in the HELL does everyone love Doop??
Jeff: I laughed no less than 83 times in this book.

“X-Men” #36 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I only read this because I drew the short straw.
Jeff: Considering this takes place before AvX, it seems pretty worthless.

“X-Men: Legacy” #274 (Marvel)
Jeff: Rogue is so lame. She basically comes up with stupid excuses not to be with Magneto.

“X-Treme X-Men” #4 (Marvel)
Jeff: This book is just awful. What happened to you, Greg Pak?
