“American Vampire: Lord of Nightmares” #5 (Vertigo)
Arnab: I reckon Dracula’s going to be making an appearance in the main title some time soon.
Jeff:
Glad that’s over…this was quite a disappointing mini.

“Avengers Assemble” #8 (Marvel)
Jeff: Thanos gets his butt handed to him, and this issue sets up the new Guardians series well.

“AvX: Consequences” #2 (Marvel)
Arnab: Scott being in jail? Not an issue. Logan being the face of mutants, stupid. Even in jail Scott is smarter, classier, and more likeable than that raging buffoon. B-
Jeff: Disappointing art change. The issue focuses on Logan and Scott talking again. Good grief, haven’t we seen enough of this?
Andy: Gillen is putting his best foot forward — this is a must read for all X-Men fans. It’s Cyclops’ swan song. (4.5/5) #XMen #AVX

“Batwoman” #13 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: Batwoman and Wonder Woman can team up forever. A

“Captain Marvel” #5 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: This is like a fun Quantum Leap multi-episode but with Carol Danvers. A+

“Catwoman” #13 (DC)
Arnab: The Joker tie-in portion was ridiculous and confusing. The rest of it was fun. B+
Andy: Nice looking art, but what the heck was going on here? And why was this labeled a “Death of the Family” tie-in? (1.5/5) #Catwoman

“Chew” #29 (Image)
Arnab: Fantastic series. Fantastic issue. Fantastic cast. Fantastic creators. A
Jeff: Tony Chu is barely in this issue! This book has one of the best supporting cast of characters in comics today!

“Cyber Force” #1 (Top Cow)
Andy: A decent start and the price tag is awesome (FREE!), but did they really just off all those characters!? Cyblade! NOOO! (3/5) #CyberForce

“Ex Sanguine” #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: A slow start but had an intriguing finish — on the fence with this one. Crime/horror fans should give it a look. (2/5) #ExSanguine

“Godzilla: The Half-Century War” #3 (IDW)
Andy: I don’t even like Godzilla but this series is blowing my mind. The artwork is phenomenal! (4.5/5) #Godzilla

“Green Lantern: New Guardians” #13 (DC)
Andy: It was cool to see Kyle Rayner “rage out,” but the rest is… yikes. (1.5/5) #GreenLantern

“Harbinger” #5 (Valiant)
Andy: “X-Men” readers need to give this a shot. It’s an excellent alternative with strong characters and personality. (4/5) #Valiant #Harbinger

“Hawkeye” #3 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: An issue that showcases the quiver of trick arrows and is a giant car chase with bad mistakes, how can I not love it? A+
Andy: Move over “Daredevil” and “Amazing Spider-Man,” “Hawkeye” is Marvel’s new street level king. (4.5/5) #Hawkeye

“It Girl & the Atomics” #3 (Image)
Jeff: Ok, I gave it a shot for 3 issues, and this just isn’t doing it for me. Allred needs to be the only one writing these characters.

“Marvel NOW! Point One” #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: A preview’s a preview. But I will say I’m glad the Young Avengers and Cable are back.
Jeff:
A great preview of the upcoming books. I especially liked the Forge/Cable story, can you believe that?
Andy: “Young Avengers” & “Guardians” win. Ten bucks says the movie Nick Fury gets retconned into the 616 Universe. (3.5/5) #MarvelNow

“New Avengers” #31 (Marvel)
Jeff: The scene with Dr. Strange and Iron Fist alone was worth the price of this book. Great stuff.

“Nightwing” #13 (DC)
Arnab: Lady Shiva. She’s kinda cool, this is kinda interesting, but not completely. B+

“Red Hood and the Outlaws” #13 (DC)
Arnab: If this book had started off with Timothy Green III, this would have been great. Unfortunately, that Superman preview, featuring art by the great Kenneth Rocafort, left me feeling gypped. B

“Simpsons Comics” #195 (Bongo)
Andy: Homer experiences a pseudo-trip through time, Moe proposes to Marge & Hans Moleman hangs out in a tree. (2.5/5) #Simpsons

“Star Wars: Agent of the Empire — Hard Targets” #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: Set before “A New Hope,” it’s Bond meets Star Wars and it’s pretty good. (3.5/5) #JamesBond #StarWars

“Sword of Sorcery Featuring Amethyst” #1 (DC)
Andy: A fun read with a decent back-up. Lopresti’s art makes it for me. (3/5) #Amethyst

“Thun’da” #3 (Dynamite)
Andy: The art’s not bad but the story is trying too hard. Thun’da’s simple minded — he’s jungle law. Flashbacks aren’t needed. (2/5) #Thunda

“Ultimate Comics Iron Man” #1 (Marvel)
Andy: I don’t read much Iron Man but this feels old hat and very boring. Why was the solicit “Classified?” (1/5) #IronMan

“Ultimate Comics Spider-Man” #16 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I like that Miles is teaming up with Captain America and what that means for the world, that ending is nuts. A
Jeff: No Pichelli? No Marquez? A tie-in to “United We Stand?” NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Andy: I’m struggling with the whole “lets make this guy an Avenger” thing after Parker had to be “trained.” (2/5) #Spiderman

“Uncanny X-Men” #20 (Marvel)
Arnab: I love the Sinister twist. I would love to have this guy rip apart the Earth and have the Avengers come crawling and begging Cyclops to save their weak asses. B+
Jeff: The nail in this book’s coffin. I’m actually glad to see this series over. Bye Kieron Gillen.
Andy: All I can think at the end of this is — please, no more Miss(ter) Sinister for awhile. Please. (2/5)

“The Walking Dead” #103 (Image)
Arnab: Negan has a potty mouth. A
Jeff: This book was a snore-fest. Negan comes and takes some medicine? Big deal.
Andy: Oh man — Kirkman has a pressure cooker going right now, and with every page turn I think it’s going to blow. (3.5/5) #WalkingDead

“Wonder Woman” #13 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: I absolutely love this rendition of the Greek Pantheon, it makes this the best remake of Hercules the Legendary Journeys. A

“X-O Manowar” #6 (Valiant)
Andy: Hot damn this issue was loaded with action and iced with deceit! Ninjak + X-O = badass. (4.5/5) #Valiant

“X-Factor #245” (Marvel)
Arnab: Havoc never fit in this book. Another great issue and I’m glad Marvel Now is not touching this book. A
Jeff: See ya in Uncanny Avengers, Havok! You didn’t need to be in this book anyway.

“The Zaucer of Zilk” #1 (2000 AD/IDW)
Andy: This is crazy & best described as the neon love child of film’s “The Groove Tube” & “Space Mutiny.” (2.5/5) #2000AD
