Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews! Here you can find out what we at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!
Amazing Spider-Man #632 (Marvel)
Andy: Still one of the better Spidey arcs in awhile…but again, with some of Bachalo’s panels I have no clue what the hell I’m looking at!
Aron: What the hell!? This went from awesome to weird, QUICK! How’s this happening?
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #2 (DC)
Andy: If you hate these last two issues, grab your copies and read along with THIS. If those don’t change your mind, you just don’t like fun.
Arnab: Fantastic read! Definitely a must read series for Batman fans. People that don’t like it, really just aren’t grasping it all.
Aron: That was totally a Pube Monster! From your shower drain!
Infinite Speech: And so Dr. Beck…err Bruce Wayne finds himself hopping from life to life hoping the next leap will be the leap home.
Dark Wolverine # 86 (Marvel)
Andy: Finally, for the first time in months, we see the two claws Daken fused with the Muramasa Blade…
Infinite Speech: Soooo…ummm…Skaar is in here why?
The Darkness/Darkchylde: Kingdom of Pain (Top Cow)
Aron: Welcome back, Ariel Chylde! I was just thinking of you the other day. Your look different these days.
Infinite Speech: I might have enjoyed it more had I been more familiar with the Darkchylde character.
Dazzler #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Skippable and only for the hardcore Dazzler fan. Its tie-in with Necrosha is that it stars Alison’s sister, Lois, so it’s a stretch.
Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #11 (Marvel)
Aron: Best line came not from Deadpool but from Bill, Agent of A.I.M.! “It’s like flying a whale’s ass through a sky full of pudding!”.
Detective Comics #865 (DC)
Andy: Dr. Arkham plays with Dick. Yep, you read that right.
Aron: The origin of Black Mask. Twisted, insane, maddening. Only in Arkham.
Doomwar #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Another stellar issue with a new player on the field to help get Doom’s foot out of the heros @$$
Fantastic Four #579 (Marvel)
Andy: Reed Richards doing his best Charles Xavier impression.
Gotham City Sirens #12 (DC)
Andy: Meh. Pretty average.
Arnab: Sometimes you just forget how badass these chicks are, but then Poison Ivy opens a can of whoopass and Catwoman and Harley take on an Angel.
Green Hornet #4 (Dynamite)
Aron: If you don’t think Kevin Smith’s Green Hornet is cool, then you’re just an idiot or something that’s not cool.
Infinite Speech: Kato seems to be pretty effective by herself so is Green Hornet even necessary?
Green Hornet: Year One #3 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: We find out why Kato is honor bound to protect Britt in another great issue. Love the noir feel of this series
Green Lantern #54 (DC)
Andy: It’s easy to appreciate how Johns is making the Green Lantern mythos richer with each story arc. But what does the last page have to do with anything?
Arnab: The collector of entities is all kinds of awesome.
Aron: It’s on now, ya bastiches!
Infinite Speech: Finally we find out what the White Power Battery wants and a kitten kills thugs in a subway car. only in NY!
Green Lantern Corps #48 (DC)
Aron: Remember when Yoda fought Darth Sidious? I bet stuff like that is gonna happen here.
Infinite Speech: More issues with the Alpha Lanterns are on the horizon, decent issue overall.
Justice League: Generation Lost #2 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Best thing about this issue is the Neal Adams Batman Odyssey preview at the end.
Marvel Zombies 5 #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Again, what is the point of this series again can ANYONE tell me?
Mystery Society #1 (IDW)
Aron: Action and intrigue. Pretty cool setup.
Decapitated Dan: Wow really let down on this one but hey, look at which on of Niles’ characters are back!
The Rise of Arsenal #3 (DC)
Andy: It was decent, despite the weird combat moments. Definitely not deserving of the thrashing Brian Hibbs gave it.
Arnab: This is starting to feel less like the Rise of Arsenal and more like let’s see what we can do to screw Roy’s life today.
Savage She-Hulks #3 (Marvel)
Aron: There is a big poo lookin’ smear on the first page of action in my copy. An omen. Crappy ending to a good story.
Scalped #38 (Vertigo)
Andy: I say it every time: READ THIS BOOK!! Seriously, vol. 1 is only 10 bucks!! More importantly though, it’s one helluva story, so there’s really no excuse.
Second Coming Revelations: Blind Science (Marvel)
Andy: Woah, definitely wasn’t expecting it to be such a good read. Dr. Nemesis is the man!
Arnab: A nice witty companion piece to the main series.
Infinite Speech: Takes place between pts 8 & 9 and 13 seconds turns into 22 pgs of interesting story.
Secret Avengers #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Far better than I was expecting, and the art sucked me right in. Added to my Pull.
Aron: So-so. Glad to see The Irredeemable Ant-Man, though!
Infinite Speech: WHOA! Okay my interest is piqued!
Seven Psychopaths #1 (BOOM! Studios)
Andy: 7 assassins are assigned the task of taking out Hitler. Great stuff from Sean Phillips plus it’s a cool premise.
Star Wars Invasion: Rescues #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: Picks up right where volume 1 left off and it’s looking like it’ll be one action packed ride!
Star Wars Legacy # 48 (Dark Horse)
Andy: How the heck is all of this going to get wrapped up in 2 more issues?
Infinite Speech: Just two more books till this series is over 🙁
Superman: The War of the Supermen #4 (DC)
Arnab: A fairly uninspired conclusion that negates the past few years of Superman history.
Aron: Supergirl has a mullet.
Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #70 (Mirage)
Andy: The last TMNT comic book to be published by Mirage ever. The company has published everything TMNT since 1984. A moment of silence please.
The Thanos Imperative: Ignition #1 (Marvel)
Aron: Whaaaaat the hellllllll? Oh, this is gonna be the best Marvel Cosmic event yet!
Infinite Speech: Did anyone else think Gladiator was drawn overly effiminent? Great issue otherwise
Thunderbolts #144 (Marvel)
Andy: A cool premise and it ends with a bang!
Aron: All who know fear shall burn at the Man-Thing’s touch! Awesome! GREAT seeing O.G. T-Bolts! WTF did Songbird do to her hair!?
Decapitated Dan: Someone tell Parker to read Punisher so he can know where Man-Thing really is. Bad continuity.
Infinite Speech: I like that Luke Cage is leadin’ a new team and Baron Zemo is pissed and want’s the job back.
Ultimate Enemy #4 (Marvel)
Decapitated Dan: So I spent money on a mini, that just leads into another mini! BOO!
Whatever Happened to Baron Von Shock? #1 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: Eh…okay I guess. Armpit Boob on the cover still creeps me out though.
X-Force #27 (Marvel)
Andy: I dig how Mike Choi is getting to draw all the cool action scenes! He’s the man.
Arnab: Another awesome issue by the X-Force creative team. Great use of minor X-Men characters. Poor Hellion.
Aron: Interesting counter attack.
Decapitated Dan: That was disappointing after the last chapters ending. BOO!
Infinite Speech: Second Coming is picking back up as more casualties ensue and Scott just might have killed X-Force.
X-Men Origins: Emma Frost (Marvel)
Andy: Surprisingly enjoyable. Made me want to go back and read the 18 issue series from 2003-2005.

Riddle me this…why should someone who wants to read the return of Bruce Wayne have to go ONLINE to find some random blog that breaks down every page to get more out of the story. There is such a thing as TOO MUCH detail and yes I do like SOME of the story and will probably like it once it’s complete but for now it’s a bit tiresome. Morrison’s Batman and Robin is so much better right now.
It’s not like the writing is all that “deep” it’s just the clever use of symbolism and plenty of past knowledge of the Bat mythos that makes this tale a bit entertaining. So “bad” story? no. Overhyped story? we’ll see when it’s all over.
Speech I’m shocked that you’re pissed at Morrison for giving you your $3.99 and then some!
…Thanos Imperative was OFF THE HOOK!!!!
Not pissed at Morrison at all Andy just that it’s an issue that’s not that accessable to someone who hasn’t been reading Batman for a few years. I have so I can get more out of it than say the next guy but like I said earlier it’s not that fun of a book and the journey is less interesting right now. Maybe once I read it as a collected story I’ll enjoy it more but right now it’s …meh!
