Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 6/3/2010

Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews! Here you can find out what we here at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s new books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!

28 Days Later #11 (BOOM!)
Decapitated Dan: I bet you’re all sick of me saying I love this book, BUT I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Avengers: Prime #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Decent, but not a “must read” by any means. Lots of bickering too…was this a long lost episode of The Golden Girls?
Aron: Not what I was expecting. Not as awesome as the hype pushing it, either. It was good, though.
Infinite Speech: I’m a big Alan Davis fan so that helped but overal the story was…”meh”.

Brightest Day #3 (DC)
Andy: I know the jury’s still out on this one, but I’m liking the fast pace and scatter shot focus of this series!
Andrew: Still very interesting. I’m loving Deadman and Aquaman’s stories.
Arnab: Dude, back off Ronnie already. And what the hell does this white ring want with Boston Brand?
Aron: Still not seeing the point or greatness everyone else sees with this series.
Infinite Speech: I like this one, though not as much as the GL and GLC books that tie into it. Am I okay?

The Bulletproof Coffin #1 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: Very different than what I was expecting, yet it was very intriguing and strange. I think I like it!

Captain America/Black Panther: Flags of our Fathers #3 (Marvel)
Andy: It got a little too obvious with the racial commentary in this issue, and it got really campy with the battle, but it still looks great!
Infinite Speech: Nick Fury has and always will be an @$$ so get used to it. Still a great story from Hudlin.

Demo #5 (Vertigo)
Andy: Another great short story from Cloonan and Wood. Is it really over in 1 more issue? : (

Dust Wars #1 (Image)
Andy: Good art can’t save the terrible dialog. Mech Warrior and WWII fans may enjoy it, but it’s a crap shoot.

Greek Street #12 (Vertigo)
Decapitated Dan: I don’t know, the new arc didn’t grab me like the initial storyline.

Grimm Fairy Tales #47 (Zenescope)
Aron: Good tales. Ongoing story isn’t for noobs. I’m lost.

Hawkeye & Mockingbird #1 (Marvel)
Andy: This was just ok…I’ll stick around for #2, but I’m not sure how long after that.

Heralds #1 (Marvel)
Andy: It was good, but really random. A must read for the Emma Frost fans in the house!

Icon: Mothership Connection TPB (DC)
Infinite Speech: Some of THE best issues from Milestone’s Icon collected all in one book!

Invincible #72 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: HOLY ☠☠☠☠!!!! WOW if you’re not reading this go buy the last issue and this one, if you are reading it HOLY ☠☠☠☠!!!!

iZombie #2 (Vertigo)
Andy: When’s the zombie going to team up with Agent Chu from Chew? Because they both share the same work ethic!
Aron: This’s what Ghost Whisperer would be like if Jennifer Love Hewitt was a zombie.
Decapitated Dan: Oh good the monster squad is assembling. This book stinks.
Infinite Speech: Okay, a bit more story here and I’m actually having fun with this one.

Joker’s Asylum II: The Riddler #1 (DC)
Andy:
Pretty skippable, but I’m a Riddler fan so I was onboard.
Andrew:
Not a must-read, but pretty fun if you love the Riddler!

The Killer: Modus Vivendi (Archaia)
Andy: Fan-f-ing-tastic as usual! My indie pick of the week, no question!

Nemesis: The Impostors #4 (DC)
Arnab: A thrilling, albeit slightly confusing, end to a surprisingly good mini-series.

Philip K. Dick’s Electric Ant #3 (Marvel)
Andy: This series is really making me want to check out the book; not to be missed by sci-fi fans! (Did I just say that out loud? Shit!)

Red Hood: Lost Days #1 (DC)
Andy: So THAT’S why Jason Todd is so pissed off all the time! Even without a lot of flash, a surprisingly engaging read this week!
Arnab: A nice start to a look into the history behind Jason Todd. Who knew Talia could be so nice?
Infinite Speech: Great way to start filling in the gaps on Jason Todd.

Red Robin #13 (DC)
Andy:
Nicieza’s debut on the title goes over very well; Tim Drake is still badass.
Arnab:
Great start to Fabian Nicieza’s run on this series. A little bit of brotherly bonding and a long to-do list for Tim.

Sky Doll: Spaceship #1 (Marvel/Soleil)
Decapitated Dan: I love Sky Doll mini stories! So happy this was put out for the States, we need more imports!

Superman/Batman Annual #4 (DC)
Andy: Stunning art work and a great one-shot story knock this annual out of the park! Can’t wait for the Batman Beyond series!!

Sweet Tooth #10 (Vertigo)
Andy: A great way to deliver and set-up some exposition. My top 3 Vertigo titles right now: 1) Scalped 1A) American Vampire 1B) Sweet Tooth!
Decapitated Dan: I know it’s good, but I am losing interest fast.

Tales From Wonderland: The White Knight #1 (Zenescope)
Aron: Pretty cool. Kinda fun!

The Thanos Imperative #1 (Marvel)
Andy: I’m not a huge Marvel Cosmic guy, but even I was able to really enjoy it!
Aron: This thing is gonna be epic, I’ve decided.
Eli: Thanos, issues of life and death on a universal scale, and a twist that’ll throw your Marvel history on its head. Cosmic Excellence!
Infinite Speech: Marvel’s cosmic books have been on fire for several years now and this one just keeps that goin’! Thanos is a BEAST!

Vengeance of the Moon Knight #9 (Marvel)
Andy: Yeah, I guess I like my Moon Knight in small doses. I’ll stick to reading about him in Secret Avengers.
Aron: T’was like a pointless, self-contained 90’s style adventure. Lame. First low point for Hurwitz. Disappointing.

The Waking #4 (Zenescope)
Andy: Hell yeah that’s a quote from our site on the cover!!
Aron: Bummed it’s over.
Infinite Speech: Good story but it seemed to go by too quick.

X-Men Forever Giant Size #1 (Marvel)
Decapitated Dan:
WTF? Seriously they allowed this out the door? Horrible writing with bad art make this crap!

I just love our varying opinions about these books lol. I actually didn’t think anyone was reading the X-Men Forever books…thanks Dan I lost a bet lol

  2. Hudson

    Great reviews guys!

Andy, if you’re looking for Philip K. Dick’s “The Electric Ant”, I’d recommend getting “Selected Stories of Philip K. Dick”. It has all of his best short stories/novelettes, also including “The Minority Report” and “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale” (made into “Total Recall”). And of course, “The Electric Ant”.

  3. DecapitatedDan

It was the only one I saw with Iceman in it 🙂 The dialogue was as bad as the episode of the cartoon Iceman was in.

  4. Jeff Jackson

I keep forgetting to add my reviews! Darn! I only had one, and that was I, Zombie. I’m really liking it. Such a simple idea, but it’s a lot of fun.

  5. Eli
