Remember when the Thunderbolts were all about redemption and giving hardened criminals a second chance by fighting the good fight and bringing about justice like lightning? Norman Osborn kind of ruined that reputation and made the Thunderbolts his own private black ops team. Guess what, Comic Attackers!? Jeff Parker and Kev Walker have flushed Norman Osborn’s turd and are busy restoring the Thunderbolts to the glory of days past, and I couldn’t be more excited!
Luke Cage, who himself was once labeled a criminal and given a second chance, is put in charge of whipping some vicious criminals into shape and giving them a shot at redemption by becoming the latest edition of the Thunderbolts. The roster of baddies include: Ghost, Moonstone (again!), Juggernaut, and Crossbones. They are joined by original team members; Fixer, Songbird, and Mach IV (now upgraded to Mach V). Thrown interestingly into the mix is a creature Osborn’s H.A.M.M.E.R. was able to capture; Man-Thing! With a few modifications to his natural ability from Hank Pym, Man-Thing will serve as a nightmarish version of Lockjaw, teleporting the team to their destinations. I like it!
This is an excellent cast! Ghost has always been an interesting character; a nutjob with apparent social anxiety is actually a polite individual when he’s not trying to kill Tony Stark. If you don’t like him yet, he’s going to grow on you. It’s also great to see the inclusion of original team members, as well. If you’re a fan of the original series, like I am, you are going to love this book! Pick it up! Jeff Parker and Kev Walker are going to make you proud and have you jumping for joy! If you have never experienced Thunderbolts before, give it a try. It’s a fun book starting in on an exciting new era in this Heroic Age!
After you read this issue and see the surprise that Parker and Walker have for us at its conclusion, you will be dying to know two things: What’s going to happen next and what the hell happened to Songbird’s hair!?

Another great cast of characters in one book. I’ve never picked up a Thunderbolts comic, but this may be my jumping on point.
And I love Luke Cage!
I thought this issue was great! I love how Juggernaut is part of the cast!!

This issue exceeded my expectations and then some. I pity Ghost but the way Jeff Parker has Luke kind of reach out to him was cool and pretty much on point with individuals who suffer the mental issues that Ghost has. I just wish dude would bathe but then again that’s another issue with people who suffer from Ghost’s condition.
Moonstone will probably press her luck trying to get with Luke and his wife will show up and slap her around some lol
