Superman is dying, or at least that’s what he thinks. Turns out, with everything that’s been happening to him in the other Superman titles, from battling Darkseid to Rao, Superman’s body is failing him. With what little time he has left, he’s determined to leave the planet safe guarded against future criminals. For readers, like myself, who aren’t exactly reading the other Superman titles, Superman’s impending doom may come as a surprise. That this issue is part two of an ongoing story is also a lovely surprise, however it isn’t actually necessary to have read part one. This issue plays out fairly straightforward, due in large part to Peter Tomasi’s story. While much has happened to lead up to this point, Tomasi is able to convey his story without a ten page summary. This is easily one of the best issues this series has seen in a while, so it’s a shame that it will be ending soon. 4/5
