Batman:tec endgame 1 Detective Comics Endgame #1
Writers: Brian Buccellato
Artists: Roge Antonio, Ronan Cliquet, and Nick Filardi
Cover Artists: Marcus To and Gabe Eltaeb
Publisher: DC

Although not necessarily relevant to the ongoing series nor the Endgame story, this issue was nevertheless still entertaining. Brian Buccellato proves yet again that he is able to write a fun, enjoyable tie-in story in addition to his usual thrilling ongoing stories. This issue follows Lonnie in his quest to help his mom, who is trapped at work while Gotham is in chaos because of Joker. Buccellato does a great job of this issue, giving us sort of an outsider point of view to what is going on in the Batman series. He introduces some really great characters who will hopefully make reappearances in other upcoming books. 4/5

Batman Eternal #49batman eternal 49
Writers: Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, Ray Fawkes, Kyle Higgins, and Tim Seeley
Artists: Fernando Blanco and Marcelo Maiolo
Cover Artists: Cliff Chiang
Publisher: DC

With the end of the series, or at least this volume of it, getting closer and closer, the villain mastermind still has yet to be revealed. In the meantime, Alfred and Gordon take the time in this issue to demonstrate just how capable they both still are. It’s still uncertain if Gordon was framed because he’s Gordon or because of his ties to Batman, however he’s no longer sitting back and taking what’s thrown at him. From the beginning Gordon has pretty much accepted all the punishment thrown his direction because he believes he’s guilty and it’s nice to see him finally stand up for himself. The true star of the issue has to be Alfred, who showed exactly why he is one of Batman’s most trusted family members. Overall it was a decent issue. It had some great character moments, some nice bonding between Alfred and Julia, but it didn’t have much in the way of plot progression, other than Hush being stopped for a second time. 3/5
