Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12/19/12

A + X #3 (Marvel)
Jeff: Storm & T’challa finally get a bit of closure. Not a bad way for that relationship to end.

All-New X-Men #4 (Marvel)
Arnab: This book is remarkably entertaining. The wonky powers is a little weird though. Nothing like this ever happened to Rachel, right? A
Jeff:
I just love the original X-Men. I think they’re inclusion has finally made the X-Men exciting again.

America’s Got Powers #4 (Image)
Arnab: The wait between issues is made up for with this unique and fascinating story. A-

Astonishing X-Men #57 (Marvel)
Arnab: Warbird is one of the only things that came out of “Wolverine and the X-Men” that I enjoy. B
Jeff:
Walta’s art is really fun and I wish he had done the whole issue.

Avengers #2 (Marvel)
Jeff: I don’t get what the big deal is. Hickman is overrated.

Avengers Arena #2 (Marvel)
Jeff: Death Locket is a great new character! I love the tone of this book and where it’s going.

Bravest Warriors #3 (kaboom!)
Dr. Bustos: Creepy clown kids messing with a cemetery and I’m not terrified, well done! B

Cable & X-Force #2 (Marvel)
Arnab: Again, I wish Uncle Deadpool was on this team. A-
Jeff:
The jumping from the past to the present is jarring. I wish Larroca would use a different style to distinguish between times.

Captain Marvel #8 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Two Captain Marvels fighting a giant robot for the price of one! A

FF #2 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I like how their first mission parallels the first mission of the original team. A
Jeff: Madman shows up at the end! Well, not really, but he looks just like him!

Gambit #7 (Marvel)
Arnab: That fat bald Russian guy is gone, which is awesome. Just like the rest of this series. A-
Dr. Bustos:
Thus ends that jerk villain’s story. Good. This new one sounds interesting. B
Jeff: I love the pace of this book. If the art was more to my liking, this book would be on fire.

Hawkeye #6 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: A Christmas story with Hawkeye trying to hook up his home entertainment system and a fight with a mob? Always. A+

Indestructible Hulk #2 (Marvel)
Jeff: Such a simple concept, but one that really works. This book is great!

Judge Dredd #2 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I understand they needed a robot infiltrator but now that guy is out of a body forever. B+

Locke & Key: Omega #2 (IDW)
Jeff: I have never simultaneously stood up and cheered and cried at one comic book before. This book is perfect!

Nightwing #15 (DC)
Arnab: Kyle Higgins unleashed Joker on Dick Grayson. And people die. Easily the best Death of the Family tie-in. A

Rachel Rising #13 (Abstract Studios)
Jeff: Loving the tie-in of the inspiration to Sleeping Beauty. What a great tale Moore is crafting here.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #15 (DC)
Arnab: Red Hood and the Outlaws team up with the Teen Titans? Hell Yes. A-

Saga #8 (Image)
Arnab: And the epic-ness continues. A
Jeff:
How bad do you want to read “A Night Time Smoke?”

Secret Avengers #35 (Marvel)
Jeff: I feel like this story should be bigger than it is. It’s well-written and drawn, but I feel like it’s being compressed.

Thor: God of Thunder #3 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Always love seeing gods of different pantheons interacting or being discussed amongst each other. A
Jeff: It is awesome to see Thor truly scared of a villain.

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #18 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: He took out that giant lady all by himself, he needs to put that into perspective. B
Jeff: David Marquez is back! And this United We Stand stuff is wrapping up. Can’t wait for this book to get back on track.

Uncanny X-Force #35 (Marvel)
Arnab: All hail Deadpool, the hero! B
Jeff:
Whoda thunk that Remender had a happy ending in him?

Wolverine & the X-Men #22 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Finally get to see Idie in action in the series and it’s against Frankenstein’s Creature and a witch. A+
Jeff: This circus story is just not for me.

Wonder Woman #15 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: Again, love it when gods of different pantheons interact, and love meeting more of Zeus’ other children. A+

X-Factor #249 (Marvel)
Arnab: I love that this book could care less what’s going on with the rest of the X world. A-
Jeff:
Remember when X-Factor solved crimes? That was awesome. Enough with this supernatural stuff.

X-Men: Legacy #3 (Marvel)
Jeff: The cover is so incredible with it’s Escher homage, but has absolutely nothing to do with the inside of this book.
