Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 10/14/15

A-Force #5 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This is the type of fun I wish Marvel was doing a while ago

Batman #45 (DC)
Arnab: Not bad.More of this would be good. Less of Gordon learning how to be Batman would be better.
Martin:
4/5 stars. One of the few “Superheavy” issues to actually distinguish Gordon’s Batman from Bruce’s. Top notch art & colors.

Batman & Robin Eternal #2 (DC)day men 8
Arnab: Bat-Family working together! I am loving this series already.
Infinite Speech: After reading this I realized I just want more Cassandra Cain!
Martin: 4/5 stars As good as Batman Eternal was, I wasn’t looking forward to another weekly. So far this is changing my mind

Batman/Superman #25 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Post-Convergence, this hasn’t been 1 of my fave books, but the inclusion of Batgirl this month helps a lot

Bat-Mite #5 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. There’s still a lot of goofy humor & well-done appropriate art, but it feels like the jokes are just shy of the mark.

Captain America: Sam Wilson #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Wow. More impressed than I thought I would be with this one and will be picking up the next few issues.

Civil War #5 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: One of the best Secret Wars tie-ins for a reason!

Day Men #8 (BOOM!)
Arnab: That was a friggin’ awesome finale.
Infinite Speech: Even with the time gap between issues this remains one of the best titles you should be reading!

Death Vigil Vol 1 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Reads even better when it’s put together! You need to go and get this as we patiently wait for Vol 2!

East of West #21 (Image)east of west 21
Arnab: Who knew that I could fall in love with a coupling in just one issue? That was so good.
Martin: The crazy insider politics continue to get even crazier; part of the fun is being completely in the dark.

I Hate Fairyland #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Okay, I loved it and can’t wait for the next issue!

Jem and the Holograms #8 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This series continues to just reach out and dominate with every issue!

Justice League of America #4 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. The art is a major draw for this book, but the out-of-continuity story is also very compelling.

Justice League United #14 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Batgirl, Vandal Savage, Star Girl, Robotman, Steel, G.I. Zombie & Sgt Rock? Awesome!…but cluttered

New Avengers #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: So uh, other Reed is alive huh? I’m on the fence. Why they gotta make Wiccan so ugly though?
Infinite Speech: Liking the team dynamic but please don’t start writing DaCosta like Tony Stark. It’s insulting.

Ninjak #8 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: We need to see more of Fitz and Ninjak’s parents need to be replaced with better people.

Starfire #5 (DC)switch 1
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. This creative team is continuing to produce one of the best of the new DC You titles, full of humor & warmth.

Superman: Lois & Clark #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The characterization of Lois & Clark is great, but putting them in New 52 earth is a strange choice.

Switch #1 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Stjepan Sejic can do NO wrong and has given the Witchblade mythos some new life! Buy this!

Uncanny Avengers #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Not sure if I want to read this series. Probably won’t because nothing was really impressive about it. Like oatmeal.

Unity #23 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Valiant’s best dysfunctional team is getting even more dysfunctional and James Asmus and Diego Bernard make it great!
