Chirpin’ THURSDAY Reviews 7/20/11

It’s been a crazy week for the Comicattack.net staff with the San Diego Comic-Con and all, so the Chirps are here on Thursday! Better late than never, Chirp fans!

All Nighter #2 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Jeff made me read this for TFTWC. I liked the cliffhanger. That is all.
Jeff: I was getting bored until that awesome last panel. I hope it pays off!

Avengelyne #1 (Image)
Andy: Nice art and the story was decent enough to just jump into. Some weird transitions, but worth a shot if babes who kick ass is your thing.

Batman #712 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Solid issue but Riddler won’t be winning any Father of the Year awards anytime soon.

Batman: Gates of Gotham #3 (DC)
Andy: Did Scott Snyder just win an Eisner Award for being awesome? Hell yes he did. That should be a sign if you aren’t reading this.

Conan: Island of No Return #2 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Two issues and it’s over. I want more Bart Sears and Ron Marz Conan stories!

The Darkness #92 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Jackie and Butcher take the offensive and this is the best issue so far in this Outer Darkness story arc!

Executive Assistant Lotus #1 (Aspen)
Andy: Dudes- buy your lady every issue of “The Hit List Agenda” and she’ll be into comics.
Infinite Speech: Another new assassin with a much better backstory. Can’t wait to see what Hernandez has in store for her!

Flashpoint: Legion of Doom #2 (DC)
Infinite Speech: The cool reveal last issue isn’t who we thought it was. Wake me when it’s over.

Generation Hope #9 (Marvel)
Jeff: The more I thought about Wolverine counseling Kenji about killing people, the madder I got, considering Wolverine is on a mutant DEATH SQUAD!

I.C.E.: Immigration & Customs Enforcement #1 (12-Gauge Comics)
Infinite Speech: For ONE DOLLAR we get a full issue filled with a lot of what makes a comic good!

Iron Man 2.0 #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: So, War Machine asked what the hell he’s doing in this story. Not a good sign.

Locke & Key: Clockworks #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Hill and Rodriguez can do no wrong with this series! Oh, and I knew the goat wasn’t going to make it.

Skaar: King of the Savage Land #5 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Packed with dinosaur action, huge fights, and some great dialogue this was a great mini series!

Snake Eyes #3 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This series has all of the G.I. Joe goodness from the early days with the necessary updates that makes it awesome!

Ultimate Comics Fallout #2 (Marvel)
Andy: I’m not feelin’ it. Feels overdone and goes by waaay too quickly.

Uncanny X-Men #541 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Just get to the Colossus vs Juggernaut part that you’ve been teasing for so long Marvel.
Jeff: Why?

The Walking Dead #87 (Image)
Andy: See below for my thoughts on mindwipes…however, this one has potential to get nasty.
Jeff: Carl better not fall back into a coma next issue, or I’m gonna be pissed.

X-Factor #222 (Marvel)
Jeff: Why didn’t the internet break in half over Guido and Monet’s kiss like it did with Rictor and Shatterstar?

X-Men #15 (Marvel)
Andy: A valiant effort to bring the original 5 into play, but there were ten mindwipes too many in this one to really resonate.
Jeff: This was an example of editorial telling Yost, “Tell the cool story, but be sure to put everything back the way it was.” Awesome arc with a disappointing ending.
