Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12/12/18

Accell #16 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Accell’s villains aren’t too interesting and by contrast neither is he lately.

Amazing Spider-Man #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Having Jameson on your side is just as bad as having him against you as Spidey is finding out!

Avengers #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Phil Coulson has lost his $#&t and I can’t wait to see the Squadron Supreme of America face off against the Avengers!

Batman Annual #3 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Tom Taylor kicks you right in the feels with this story of fathers and sons!
NickZ: Alfred has always been the heart of the Bat-Family but Tom Taylor (Yes that’s the correct Tom) just reminded us and Bruce how truly lucky we are to have him! Also, Schmidt’s art was so perfect for this heartfelt tale!

Batman Damned #2 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Bermejo’s art intensifies Azzarello’s dark tale and their version of Etrigan was both great and annoying.
NickZ: What a…”colorful” interpretation of some of classic DC characters. I’m not sure if it’s up my ally but it’s definitely interesting.

The Batman Who Laughs #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I had my doubts about this buuuut I’ll be back for the second issue.
NickZ: Just what we needed, even more versions of Batman! I have no idea how that last bit is going to be undone for both characters but i’m sure Snyder has something up his sleeve.

Bitter Root #2 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Walker, Brown, and Greene are killing it with this series and I’m having a hard time narrowing down my favorite character in their new story! You should have Bitter Root at the top of your read pile every month!

Black Panther #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Thought we’d get more on the Klyntark N’Jadaka has but Coates and Walker build the intensity and reveal a little more of T’Challa and M’Baku’s plans!

DC New Talent Showcase 2018 #1 (DC)
NickZ: This anthology was pretty fantastic! Six great stories that shed new insights into six great characters by some great new talent! DC’s future is in good hands and also, Isaac Goodhart draws one gorgeous Zatanna!

Fantastic Four Wedding Special #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Ben going to the Puppet Master was the best part of this issue for several reasons but there’s no vows exchanged here so I was a little upset.
NickZ: There were definitely some funny moments but overall unless you are a die hard Ben and Alicia shipper, you could skip this.

Flash #60 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I like everything about Fuerza so far even if her design makes her look like a really cool Green Lantern.

Go Go Power Rangers #15 (BOOM!)
Infinite Speech: For those who want to stick with the classic team I highly suggest sticking with this series here.

Hit-Girl #11 (Image)
Infinite Speech: This Rome arc makes me want to stick with the series and it looks like Mindy has a sidekick…for now.

Infinity Wars Ghost Panther #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: I feel like Shuriri got her chance to be queen stolen by the patriarchy refusing to stay dead!

Infinity Wars Sleepwalker #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: It seems like Sleepwalker is going to play a much bigger role in the Marvel Universe after the events of Infinity Wars and I’m intrigued to see how that plays out.

Justice League: Dark #6 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This is a group of characters that I could care less about (except Swamp Thing. He’s great) but Tynion is making this worth picking up so far.

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Saladin Ahmed has made this issue a perfect jumping on point for anyone new to Miles’ story and from there delivers a great issue with the art team!

Mr. & Mrs. X #6 (Marvel)
NickZ: The X-Men can never have a nice party without some unexpected guests coming to crash it!

Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #313 (Marvel)
NickZ: A very beaten and broken Peter is hunted by Morlun through the zoo with only his wits to keep him alive.

Shadowman #10 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This is just going to get worse for Jack and I’m here for it!

Spider-Force #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Kane and his team seem to come up short against Verna and things are looking bleak leading into the the Spider-Geddon finale!

Spider-Girls #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Seeing two daughters of Peter Parker come together for the good of the Spider-Verse was more emotional that I expected.

Spider-Gwen: Ghost Spider #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Everything got solved far too easily for my liking but I have a feeling this won’t be the last we see of Goblin Gwen and her universe.

Uncanny X-Men #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: Kitty Pryde was the wrong X-Men for Nate to put on his council.

X-Men Red #11 (Marvel)
NickZ: Tom Taylor’s X-Men Red book was the best X-Men run since Joss Whedon’s Astonishing series! Jean Grey is the hero that we need right now!
