Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 12/05/18

Adventures of the Super Sons #5 (DC)
Infinite Speech: “They inspired themselves.” is the best line in this issue and wraps up a great arc as Damian and Jon are much better friends than their parents.
NickZ: The fact that Jon envisioned himself fat in the future is hilarious!

Batman #60 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Batman is out here losing his $#!t and Commissioner Gordon is done with him! Tom King is on some next level storytelling here and I, for one, am excited about it!
NickZ: Bane’s plan to isolate Batman from all his allies is working out pretty well and Bruce is falling for it like a chump. I question that ending tho, I think it’s just a trick.

Black [AF]: Devil’s Dye #1 (Black Mask)
Infinite Speech: Loved the story but the art lost me when the action would kick in. Just got confusing after a while.

Border Town #4 (Vertigo)
Infinite Speech: Border Town is THAT BOOK you need in your read pile! It’s got everything you want in a great comic and then some!

Deathstroke #38 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Priest has me thinking I’m going crazy right along with Deathstroke!

Die #1 (Image)
NickZ: Between this series and Riverdale, RPGs bleeding into reality seems to be a popular theme lately. In any event I am fully on board (pun intended) to see where the die takes us!

Doomsday Clock #8 (DC)
NickZ: Something actually happened in this series!

Infinity Warps #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: Three equally enjoyable shorts featuring some fun new mash-up characters!

Justice League #13 (DC)
Infinite Speech: As smart as Luthor is why would he put Joker on the team? You know that guy is bat-S#!t CRAZY! I actually felt sorry for the bad guys for a second.
NickZ: Luthor painfully learns that he is nowhere near as prepared as Batman to deal with the Joker!

Kick-Ass #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: The new Kick-Ass series is one hell of a sleeper hit if you ask me.

Killmonger #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Everything about this issue makes you want to know more and it’s the perfect mix of great story and art that makes it all worth the time and money.

Martian Manhunter #1 (DC)
NickZ: I was expecting this to be a brilliant deconstruction of Martian Manhunter similar to Tom King’s Mister Miracle series but it falls far short. At least we got that amazing Rossmo cover out of it!

The Merry X-Men Holiday Special #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: If you love short tales, the holidays, and the X-Men, you’ll find this book delightful.

Nightwing #54 (DC)
NickZ: Yasmine Putri did some incredible covers on Nightwing and Redhood this week! His Nightwing deconstructed really fits well with what’s going on in the issue.

Ninjak #14 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: So Colin is on the outs with MI6 all for Livewire? I guess he really does like her.

Noble #14 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Sad to see this is Brandon Easton’s last issue but damn did he send us off in a big way.

Prodigy #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: I’m here to see what this genius can do since Millar and Albuquerque put out a solid first issue.

Shatter Star #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Shatter Star’s past is proving deadly, and not just to him but his new tenants as well!

Snotgirl #12 (Image)
NickZ: The arrival of Lottie’s sister has sent her hot mess of a life into even greater disarray and Sunny’s discovery about Caroline and her brother is only going to make things even more complicated! I live for all this drama!

Star Trek TNG Terra Incognita #5 (IDW)
NickZ: As Doctor Crusher rushes to find a cure for a race on the verge of extinction, alt-Barclay receives an unexpected visitor from his native universe.

The Umbrella Academy #3 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: Each of these plots are interesting in themselves but I’m curious to see how/if they are all going to connect at some point.

Uncanny X-Men #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Armor has always been a favorite of mine and seeing how she stepped to Jean this issue made me truly happy!
NickZ: Nate is so powerful that he can connect with every mind on the planet but he can’t detect that the X-Men weren’t really dead? Also, Jean being so dismissive of the younger X-Men really seems out of character for her.

Venom #9 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This is one emotional issue that Cates and Stegman give us with several surprises. The Venom dog has got to be my favorite new manifestation though.
NickZ: Donny Cates is writing the hell out of this book! Eddie all alone and abandon is just heartbreaking!

The Walking Dead #186 (Image)
NickZ: In nearly 200 issue of the Walking Dead, I’ve never felt Rick has made such a terrible move as he did in this issue. He and Michonne are really disappointing me.

West Coast Avengers #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: With the exception of Kate and Clint, this group of individuals should not work as a team or even in as a group of characters in a book together but Kelly Thompson makes it work, and I love every second of it!

The Wicked + The Divide #40 (Image)
NickZ: We are in the endgame now and all bets are off as no one has anything left to lose.

X-Men The Exterminated #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Jean and Hope bond over the death of Cable and I have a feeling we will be seeing this develop further in the future. My favorite moment was when Jean absolutely schooled Hope on her powers!
