Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 10/04/17

Batman #32 (DC)
Arnab: Mikel Janin continues to impress. I feel like this issue should have been slightly longer. Batman’s secret needed just a touch more behind it.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Janin’s art & Chung’s colors are perfect for this arc-closer. Batman’s “dark secret” could have used more depth.
Infinite Speech: Well that secret was a bit underwhelming but still a solid issue.

Batman: White Knight #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A gorgeous book; Murphy’s art is always reason to buy. Story’s a predictably exposition-heavy 1st issue
Infinite Speech: It’s Sean Gordon Murphy on a Batman book so it’s a definite read!

Captain Phasma #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Phasma just keeps getting better and I’m hoping we get more when this is all over.

Dark Nights: Batman – The Dawnbreaker #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Extremely dark with almost no connection to “our” Batman. Missing some “oomph” to make it “Metal.”

Green Arrow #32 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. As typical with these series, Ferreyra’s art is a huge selling point. Good scenes with GA, Robin, & Nightwing.

Green Lanterns #32 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. I’m sad Humphries is leaving this book. I’ve enjoyed the bond he created with Baz & Cruz. Fun send-off issue.

Justice League #30 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. What is it with DC having main characters’ parents becoming villains! First thing I thought of reading this.
Infinite Speech: I picked this one up on accident. I wish I hadn’t.

Nightwing #30 (DC)
Arnab: This wasn’t a bad issue, but it just doesn’t feel particularly fresh.

Shadow/Batman #1 (Dynamite)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. There’s an odd choice to incorporate Damian Wayne into this, which doesn’t quite fit with the previous story.

Shadowman/Rae Sremmurd #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Shadowman helps the group reclaim their souls and it was a damn good issue!

Spirits of Vengence #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Ghost Rider, Blade, Satana, & Hellstorm are going to make for one hell of a team! This issue has me hooked already!

Superman #32 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. The whole Deathstroke story really doesn’t make much sense. Slightly intriguing last page, but that’s about it.

The Walking Dead #172 (Image)
Arnab: The issue was good, it was nice seeing everyone rebuild, blah, blah, blah, they better not hurt Jesus or Aaron!
