Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 05/15/19

Amazing Spider-Man #21 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: We find out Kraven might have an endless supply of black costumes for Spider-Man and $#@! gets even crazier this issue!

American Carnage #7 (DC)
Infinite Speech: That was a team-up I never saw coming and I’m suggesting you start this series if you’re into gritty crime drama that’s hitting on all cylinders!

Batman #71 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Wrap it up B!!!
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. This issue looks amazing, with both Janin and Fornes on art duties. I liked the gathering of the Bat Family mainly just to see them all together and their reasons for why they do, or don’t, meet up. But, this has been dragging out way too long.

Farmhand #8 (Image)
Infinite Speech: I’s still feeling less than sympathetic for Jed but he’s ;reaping what he sowed. That creature design for the Mayor was sick and now she’s the scariest thing in this story!

Incidentals #18 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: I din’t think Sayde would go back but why did ********* have to die? I’ve liked him since the first issue! Hopefully he’s not dead and he’ll be alright.

Ironheart #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Ironheart and Spider-Man team up in a perfect self contained story that highlights the friendship between the two while they battle a bad guy.

Justice League #24 (DC)
Infinite Speech: “Flash…I still hate you.” made me laugh every time I read this! Every time I think this series can’t get any better it goes 3 levels beyond that! Hope you’re reading this!
Martin: 4/5 stars. The Celestials make good villains, & the World Forger making Batman his ally is a great plot-twist. I also really liked the older, “reformed” versions of some of the Legion of Doom. My main issue is the constant “Universe in Crisis” of this title.

Kick-Ass #14 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Kick-Ass finally gets a main squad just as a new crazy @$$ villain appears. I don’t think everyone is going to make it out alive.

Life and Death of Toyo Harada #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Joshua Dysart deserves a standing ovation for this issue!

Livewire #6 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Jada wanted all the smoke and Livewire was happy to oblige. Now I’m hoping Ayala lets our heroine get some payback next issue.

Naomi #5 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I can’t get over how good this series has been and continues to get better! Jamal Campbell’s art sets a pretty high bar that might not be reached again if he’s not THE artist on this series forever!
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. This had been Bendis’ best DC title so far, but the pages & pages of his wall-of-text “let me tell you everything” narration doesn’t work here. The art is fantastic, though. But, if you thought Game of Thrones Season 8 was too rushed, you’ll hate this.

Spider-Man: Life Story – The 80s #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Remember when you were a kid and wanted to be Peter Parker’s Spider-Man? Well, glad there’s other options out now because Pete’s life sucks.

Superman #11 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Pros: Ivan Reis’ art. Supergirl’s arrival (finally). Cons: Pretty much everything else. Why does Zod agree to help Doomsday-Lite’s (Rogol Zaar) in the space of 1 panel? Why did we need an evil Jor-El? When when Rogol Zaar go away for good?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder In Hell #3 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: If this is Shredder’s redemption arc then I’m all here for it. He and Splinter would be greater together if he can get out of hell first.

Transformers #5 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: This investigation is dragging but I’m hoping Rubble hasn’t seen his last cycle.

War of the Realms #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Thor gets a new arm and Odin gets new armor and we’re going to need a mini series where Freya and Odin just go around slaying the dark elves.

Xena: Warrior Princess #2 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: Xena and Gabby fooled a god and I’m sure they’ll be some payback later but Ayala and Sweetman deliver another fun adventure with this one!
