Adventures of the Super Sons #9 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Damian and Jon the better version of their dads when they team up. This is just one fun series!
Amazing Spider-Man #18.HU (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Did Nick Spencer just make me feel sorry for the Gibbon?
Avengers: No Road Home #8 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: A decent series but I’m waiting to see Herc and Conan cut loose and rip things apart!
Bronze Age Boogie #1 (Ahoy Comics)
Martin: 5/5 stars. My “comic of the week” top score. There has been a ton of imaginative & creative comics coming out lately, but this genre-bender is 1 of the best. A mash-up of tons of Bronze Age tropes. See my full review at @ComicAttack: https://comicattack.net/2019/04/09/ahoy-comics-reviews-bronze-age-boogie-1/
Captain America #9 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Ta-Nehisi Coates is killing it on this series and I just don’t see a way out for Cap if the ladies fail in their mission.
Champions #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I didn’t think he’d quit the team but damn…he quit the team!
Deathstroke #42 (DC)
Infinite Speech: So much of this issue made the Teen Titans look bad but that twist at the end was so unexpected!
Domino: Hotshots #2 (Marvel)Infinite Speech: Gail is having too much here but I’m liking everyone on the team except for Widow.
Green Lantern #6 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Sharp’s art continues to be the perfect accompaniment for Morrison’s weird, Silver Age-inspired science-fiction Green Lantern story. I’m glad the “undercover Hal” story didn’t last longer. And speaking of Silver Age homages – that last page!
Justice League #21 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Justice League is THE top team book out right now. Don’t @ me.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Snyder packs so much into his JL run. Sometimes I complain that certain books take too long to reveal what’s happening and the pacing is too slow. That’s not the case for this title, which has major revelations and plot development every issue.
Sandman: The Dreaming #8 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Part 2 of this short 2-part arc shows just how crazy, creative, and disturbing the Dreaming, its character, and stories can be. Abigail Larson’s imagery provides the perfect dreamy style, at once beautiful and disturbing.
War of the Realms #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The event finally kicks off and the first issue is a must read that sets up how big this thing is going to be. I’ve got some predictions but what happened with Loki was not one of them!
Young Justice #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: The Bart and Superboy reunion was the heart of this issue and you should be reading this if you’re a fan of the original team!
Martin: 4/5 stars. Unlike Snyder’s JL I mentioned earlier, the pacing of YJ is slow. As in S-L-O-W, coupled with signature Bendis wall-of-text narration. The ideas & characters are compelling, but it shouldn’t take 3 issues to describe something that could happen in 1.
