When Dick Grayson left the superhero life behind, the future of the character, in terms of quality and entertainment, was seriously up in the air. However, seven issues in, and things couldn’t be looking better for Grayson. Tom King and Tim Seeley have done a tremendous job with this series. They have seamlessly managed to uproot Dick Grayson from his life, send him off to join Spyral, and still somehow manage to keep the essence of his character. His supporting cast in the series is great as well. Huntress is a fascinating character and a wonderful addition to the story. This new take on the character is fresh and wonderfully fun to read, especially her interaction with Grayson. Likewise, Midnighter, who is more of a guest appearance, though he feels like a supporting cast member at this point, is equally as entertaining to read. Whether or not he sticks around is still up in the air, considering he’s about to star in his very own series, but his presence in the story is a welcome one. 4/5

The war for Earth rages on as the Machine Queen takes being the Avatar to a greater level. Taking a page out of Alec Holland’s book, the Queen wipes out her Machine Parliament so she can rule all by herself. On the flip side of things, the Parliament of the Green finds itself reborn from the deepest depths of the Green. Charles Soule really has done an amazing job setting up the upcoming finale throughout his whole arc. From Alec’s relationship with the former Avatars of the Green to the creation of the Metal and the Machines, Soule has beautifully woven layers of plot into one fantastic story. The finale, if it is anything like the rest of his run, is guaranteed to be excellent. 4.5/5
