Twin sisters Mercy and Grace Dante lost their parents when they were very young.  An assassin took their lives.  Mercy grew up to be a hired gun.  Six months ago, Mercy came across the daughter of said assassin and took the young girl’s life to even the score.  Mercy’s guilt and regret over her actions sent her into a tailspin.  One that, no doubt, would end in the eternal flames of Hell.

Sela Mathers, a woman of mystery who holds the power to help people choose the correct paths in life, found Mercy and took her back to that fateful day where she extracted her revenge for her parent’s death.  This time, Mercy let the young girl live and ended her own life instead.  Why?

For the last six months, Grace Dante has been living in a confusing world of amnesia.  She was in a car wreck, they tell her, but of course she can’t remember it.  She’s working as a sales associate for an insurance company.  It’s a crummy job, but she needs the insurance; she couldn’t afford her rehab and treatment without it.  Unfortunately, it’s a job that she’s also habitually late to. Her sleaze ball boss knows she can’t live without the insurance so he propositions her; he tells her it’s the only way she’s going to be able to keep her job and, consequently, her insurance.

Grace’s home life is no better.  Her boyfriend is an asshole who likes to get drunk and go to hitting her.  When she begs him to stop, he tells her to grow up and quit whining.  Grace sure picked a winner, winner chicken dinner in that guy.  She’s also seeing a therapist who likes to pump her full of drugs.  On top of all that?  She’s been having hallucinations.  Wicked hallucinations.  A blind man’s warning to “open her eyes”, spooks her.

Ms. Dante runs into some trouble with some lousy street thugs.  An older woman comes to her rescue.  This woman calls her by name; says she knows all about her.  She also tells Grace that she knew her sister.  Who is this woman?  That’s not an answer Grace gets; all she gets is advice to stop taking the medications and to meet her at the address on the back of a business card she’s been given, in three days.

When I came to what I later realized was the last panel of this comic, I was mad.  I was left starving to turn the page, but there was no more story to feed me.  The story is THAT good.  It’s THAT badass!  There are few comics out there today that have me wanting more than what’s actually in the book that I hold in my hands.  I don’t want to wait another month to see what happens next. I want it now! Grimm Fairy Tales: Inferno surprised me and added itself to that short list of “Gimme More Now!”.

Zenescope Entertainment consistently hides solid storytelling behind those covers that have been making us drool like idiots. Ralph Tedesco has written a page turner and Gabriel Rearte has brought it to life with his art in pretty fine detail.  Go pick up this comic and when you pay for it, tell the clerk that you want this series added to your pull list.  You won’t be sorry, Comic Attackers. You’ll be glad you did. Then you can join me here on the comment boards and we’ll have a support group for those who are starving for more Inferno now!

I gotta tell you. Zenescope has the best artists. Especially when it comes to drawing a woman. 😀
