At the height of the Civil War, a priest offers an Indian chief gold for land that the white man wants to mine. The Indian chief tells him no, because there are unsettled spirits that live there. As the priest walks away, the man scoffs at the notion, and then gives the signal for the site to be blown apart by dynamite. What comes in the days that follow, nobody could have imagined. Unspeakable horrors have been unleashed on the unsuspecting mining town of Brimstone, and it seems no one will get out alive. The local government sends out a request for help, and the men that reply are all cold-blooded killers themselves. What they find in Brimstone, though, is like nothing they have seen, or ever will again…that is, if they don’t get killed themselves. A subplot of betrayal is brewing here as well, so don’t even think about blinking!
OK, all I can say is, WOW! This is a really great start to this series. The writers  give a short back story on each of the hired killers right in the middle of the story, and that gives the reader something to latch onto. This is a book that really appeals to a broad range of fans. You have horror aspects, mystery, crime, fantasy, old west, you name it, this book has it. The artwork is right on the money, too. The pages are filled with mostly muted tones, and a very “old Western” style to the characters and backgrounds. You really get the feeling that you’re in that time period when you read the book. This is definitely something that should be on everybody’s radar, and kudos to Zenescope for putting this book on the shelves! Rating  4/5
