Marvel Previews: Uncanny X-Force #1

Marvel Previews: Uncanny X-Force #1

Uncanny X-Force, written by Rick Remender and penciled by Jerome Opeña, may be the most anticipated X-Men series in a long time. A strike team made up of Archangel, Psylocke, Deadpool, and Fantomex (with some other surprises along the way no doubt), and seemingly led by Wolverine, is just badass no matter which way you look at it. Despite X-Force being disbanded by Cyclops in the fallout of “Second Coming”, Wolverine believes the team’s existence still has relevance and so, behind Cyclops’ back, he’s put together this deadly bunch of characters to eliminate threats to mutantkind. Their first mission? Apparently it has a lot to do with Apocalypse!

Um, is that Havok and Polaris we see on the variant cover? Praise the Maker!

Man oh man does this series look impressive based solely on the concept alone. The cast is what blows me away though. I want to see these characters destroying bad guys; I want to see them shred their enemies to smithereens; I want to see great character moments between all of them, because believe me, the set up is definitely there!

Fantomex and Deadpool should be highly entertaining to see play off each other, especially since here, Deadpool is given an opportunity to get serious without the pressure of having to be written as a buffoon. Warren and Betsy have a history that has yet to be touched on since her return from the dead. Remember “Crimson Dawn” and the love these two once shared? Toss in Wolverine and potentially (?) Havok and Polaris, two characters with a lot of rage who pack a deadly punch, and we’re in for an uncanny good time!

Look for it on October 6th, which has been dubbed “Uncanny X-Force Day,” and for more X-Men click here. What are you most looking forward to with this new series?

You nailed it with the cast being what really makes this book stand out. This is probably one of the best lineups to hit an X book in a while. Getting to see these characters do what they do best is going to be awesome.

I’m so pumped for this series. I love Apocalypse, Ozymandias, the Akkaba Clan, etc. The core team looks cool, but I cannot wait for the return of Polaris and Havok. I think Remender will do a great job with this. Still wish Kyle and Yost were on it but oh well.

Havok and Polaris definitely push the power cap over the limit with this team! Though I do wish the number of X books would decrease I’m hoping that this one contributes to the mythos.
