Tis The Season For The First ‘Alien: Covenant’ Trailer!

Ever since Prometheus hit the movie screens it’s divided many of the fans of the Alien franchise in regards to whether or not it was a successful addition to the mythos. Sure it was littered with several plot holes and had several other flaws but it did get several things right and one of those was attempting to go back to a more sci-fi horror feel of the original film. Well, whether you hated the prequel to Alien or not, the announcement of Alien: Covenant has sparked interest once again and now we finally get to see the return of Michael Fassbender as the synthetic, David , and see the results of what began in Prometheus. This is a slight change from what was originally planned as we were going to also see the return of Elizabeth who was played by Noomi Rapace. Now we get an entirely new crew who should provide quite the body count for the xenomorphs they find!

Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

This trailer seems to continue to go in the direction of sci-fi horror but we’ve been fooled before so let’s hope what’s set up here is the tone that continues in the theatrical release. Alien: Covenant stars Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Jussie Smollet, Amy Seimetz, and Danny McBride. The film opens in theaters on May 19th, 2017.

Was not a fan of Prometheus or the fact that it was filled with so many plot holes. Maybe this one will be what reclaims the Alien franchise because it’s been lacking for some time now.
