Recently we got our first look at Cress Williams as Black Lighting but now The CW has released the first look trailer for the upcoming show!
Jefferson Pierce is a retired hero who has traded in his tights and crimefighting for a suit and job as high school principal. He’s made family his priority and raised his two daughters, Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) and sought out a normal life. As we all know, nature abhors a vacuum and crime has overrun his city without the presence of Black Lighting and it’s time for him to come out of retirement. The threat is coming from The One Hundred who come off as a local gang terrorizing the city but in comics they have a deeper and more menacing history.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the classic costume along with the updated version we saw in the early reveal shot. There’s also hints of his daughters manifesting their powers so it’s a safe bet we’ll be seeing Thunder and Lighting make an appearance in the series as well.
As of now Black Lighting will not be part of the Arrowverse but they said the same thing about Supergirl when that first came out so we’ll have to wait and see if anything changes. But until then, we’ll have to enjoy Black Lighting as a stand alone show!
