I know I’m late, but I just listened to this episode.

Comic book characters absolutely cannot age according to real time. That would be disastrous, a ridiculously bad idea. One of the greatest things about comics is that your favorite character lives on for decades.

Take Batman as an example. Yes, there will always be a Batman, as we saw when Bruce was gone. However, Bruce Wayne is Batman. Grayson was good, but if Bruce is gone, and the only Batman someone knows is Grayson, then they don’t really know Batman.

Batman doesn’t smile. Criminals are a superstitious and cowardly lot, and Bruce terrorizes them. Best part of the job. One of the best parts of reading a good Batman story. If Bruce aged out of the job, then that part, and many more, of who Batman is has been lost.
