“Extremes pt 1”: How the evil things we do come back to bite us square in the butt! Darth Wyyrlok is finding that out right now as the body of the deceased leader of the Sith, Darth Krayt, has gone missing.  For some that might have forgotten, Darth Wyyrlok killed his master in secret, but let everyone believe his body was in stasis. Now it has disappeared, but at this time the trail doesn’t lead to him due to the fact that the only person guarding the chamber was Darth Talon, who has conveniently gone missing as well.

So while the Sith are playing “find the corpse,” Cade Skywalker and his friends are waging war against them on the other side of the galaxy.  He’s after the man responsible for countless deaths on the planet Dac, but the Sith aren’t known for giving out information, so Cade and his allies have a fight on their hands.  There isn’t much time either, because the atrocities that happened on Dac are being repeated on another planet; and to add to all of this, a princess needs rescuing as well.  Cade even gets a vision from Luke warning him that he needs to be ready for what’s ahead.  So it looks like things will definitely get worse before they get better.

Knowing that this will be the last arc of Star Wars: Legacy, I kind of half expected things to happen fast and not develop well.  Well, I was half wrong, as once again we are given another good issue in the series as things come together.  Or, if you’re the Sith, they’re pretty much falling apart as Ostrander is exposing those little cracks that have developed within the Sith during the series’ run.  Krayt’s fate has been looming in the background for a long time now, and it’ll be good to get some type of closure on that particular plot point.  I was even a bit moved as the Sith Imperial strike force laid waste to yet another planet, it was brutal as it was complete, and Ostrander’s inner dialogue for Moff Yage just set the tone for this hollow victory of his.

The artwork of Jan Duursema is once again beautiful and on point!  This was an intense issue, and Duursema’s work helped translate this, whether during a heated battle, or just with the facial expressions in the dialogue heavy parts.  I thought I would become a little bored with the constant red and black Sith, but the different species and designs of each character helps keep it from getting monotonous and boring.  The only thing that was a bit of an issue to me was the cover, which really didn’t come off as strong as some of her other work.

Last month we ran an article about the ending of Star Wars: Legacy at issue #50, and even though things are moving a bit fast, it’s still a very well-paced issue, and I think that’s because of how the foundation of this series was laid out in the beginning.  It’s still too early to tell the eventual outcome of the story, and which plot points will be tied up and which ones will be left dangling, but with only two remaining issues for this series, I’m thinking that even with or without all the answers it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

    cruel indeed man.

I’m debating on if I should get the series in trade once it’s over since I’ll already own all 50 issues come series’ end.
