Hello everybody, and welcome to a special edition of my Reviews! This is going to be a unique review for me because it will only be on one book. Usually I do three or four books at a shot, but this one is getting special attention because I’ve (and my daughter) been waiting for this book with a lot of excitement. I did an interview with the writer (Alex Zalben) and was also given a preview for the next two upcoming issues as well.

Let me just start by saying that if you are in search of a comic book with fantastic art, a great story, and an uber-cool vibe, then this is the book for you. I was really impressed with this book for two reasons in particular. First, it was a great read because it has a genuinely good story about the Powers’ family having a real everyday problem. I think sometimes that is something comics are missing these days. Real life drama plus the superhero stuff. In this issue we find out that the Powers’ grandmother is sick in the hospital and she is going to die. Initially, the family wants to help, but super-powers can’t turn back time and that’s the reason for their grandmother’s illness. After reading a book about Norse Mythology, Julie tells her siblings that maybe the Apples of Idunn can save their grandma. If you’re not familiar with the Apples, I can tell you that they extend the life of the Asgardians to great lengths. Secondly, the issue doesn’t even have Thor in it at all and it still keeps my attention. That is huge, because I’m not the worlds biggest Power Pack fan, but I am a big Thor fan, and it didn’t bother me one bit. The siblings then depart to find a way to locate the God of Thunder himself, Thor! I won’t spoil the rest for you, but they meet up with a certain super-powered group that has a rather interesting perspective on all of this and agrees to lend a hand. Awesome book, and I can’t wait for issue number two to hit the stands in May! 4/5

Their inability to turn back time is causing their grandmother to be sick?
@Kris- No, it’s their inability to turn back time, or make her young again (and healthy) that has them dejected. 🙂

The way it was worded was just a little confusing but I’ll probably get this in a trade though I’m still amazed that Power Pack hasn’t aged but Thor looks like he’s 16 on the cover lol
