The Losers, a Vertigo comic book series, will be premiering as a film this month! The film was announced in 2007, but was pushed back several times before it was later settled to have an April 2010 release.
The Losers, written by Andy Diggle, focuses on a group of an elite Special Forces team who were part of the CIA in the 1990s. They were betrayed by their leader Max during one of the group’s missions and left for dead. Years later, the Losers, now fugitives, regroup so they can clear their names. They acquire the assistance of a woman named Aisha, who has an agenda of her own, to get back at Max who is now a very influential figure for the CIA.
It was quite odd that when I first read the comic book some years ago, I thought it would make a cool movie. When the film was announced, I wasn’t sure how the adaptation would work out. However, my views have changed since I watched a few clips and trailers.
Jock, one of the artists from the comic book series, redrew The Losers #12 as a movie poster giveaway for San Diego Comic-Con 2009. The image was drawn with the likeness of the actors playing the Losers in the film.
The Losers stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, and Oscar Jaenada, with Jason Patric as Max. The film will be directed by Sylvain White and has an MPAA rating of PG-13 for content.
The Losers opens April 23rd nationwide!

Hey! Can we bring the focus back to Zoe please!
Hmm? What about her?
Anything to get the focus off of the *ugh* future Captain America
Zoe’s very pretty; She should have an awesome doppleganger like Summer Glau. <3
I have to read this series before watching the film!!
I gotta say…the movie looks lame. The trailer is not at all promising. It looks boring. 🙁 Especially when it airs next to a Kick-Ass trailer, which looks brilliant. The Losers looks like a low-budget mess.
