Natasha Romanoff is in another comic book.  It’s not because she’s sleeping with somebody, being somebody’s lapdog or sidekick, or part of a team.  It’s not a mini-series either.  This time Natasha is the star of the show in her own ONGOING series!

At the beginning, Natasha tracks down an old friend; an old spy.  They exchange chokes, punches, and kicks.  It’s the spy equivalent of dogs sniffing asses.  She gets a little information out of him, but not much.  She heads out to meet with Bucky, but someone gets the drop on her before she gets that far.  A drugged dart; her attacker has the upper hand.  She loses consciousness.  What happens next, you’ll have to read to believe.  Now that she’s hospitalized, Tony Stark, Bucky, and Wolverine rush to her side.  It’s up to those gentleman to find out who did this to her and why.

Marjorie Liu writes an intense thriller that is a must read!  Daniel Acuna uses pretty, dark, dirty, and gritty images to bring Liu’s words to life.  Black Widow #1 is an excellent read!  With two more additional art covers, there are plenty of chances for you to get your hands on a copy.  There is no excuse not to when the covers are out the wazoo!

Besides…do you really want to say no to Scarlett Johansson?

Yeah, I didn’t think so.

Pretty clear this is out because of the film, so I’m surprised it’s that good.

Though, in the end, she STILL has to be rescued by the boys. 🙁 That’s a big flashing “Oh, don’t bother” as far as I’m concerned.

The only reason I didn’t give this title a shot was mainly because of Acuna’s work. I really didn’t like it in the X-Men arc he did featuring Template but that was also a weak story all around so maybe if the actual story is better it can carry his art.

Djurdjevic covers are some fo the BEST out there!

I was back and forth on getting this one. I really enjoyed the limited series that just ended though. Kris, you should check that one out. Widow beats the crap out of the boys in that one. lol

I thought it was pretty cool. That thought may taper of soon and I end up drop kicking the book off my pull list, but I’m on board for now.

I’d have to dive into some long boxes…err…well, boxes of unbagged and unboarded chaos, to see if Acuna drew the most recent Hellcat mini. I think he did, didn’t he?
