Jonah Hex Trailer, a New Comic Movie Announced, and Thor!

The Jonah Hex movie trailer has been released and it doesn’t look half bad! The film stars Josh Brolin as the title character and Megan Fox as the damsel in distress (although she doesn’t really come off as helpless). The film also stars John Malkovich, Will Arnett, Michael Fassbender and Michael Shannon. Look for it in theatres June 18!

I’m ashamed to say I have yet to read a single issue of DC’s Jonah Hex series, despite the dedicated cult following it seems to have. The trailer does make the movie look like it has potential, I’m just not sold on Fox: sure she looks the part, but can she carry that Southern twang believably throughout the entire film? I guess we’ll see!

The first image of actor Chris Hemsworth as Thor has been released and by the Gods does he look bad ass!

Wow. I’m really impressed at how well Hemsworth pulls of the mighty Asgardian in this image. I’m happy to see the costume choice is from Olivier Coipel’s design in J. Michael Straczynski’s recent Thor run with Marvel. The beard’s a nice touch too! The Thor film is set to debut May 11, 2011 and also stars Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins.

Finally, the word is out that a movie based on Ed Brubaker’s and Sean Phillips’s Incognito is in the works!

This is great news! If you haven’t read this mini-series you’re really missing something special. It’s pulp noir at its finest, starring an ex-super villain hiding in witness protection who one day decides to screw it all and go back out on the beat- only this time he’s walking a fine line by beating down petty street criminals. When the word gets out to the villain community that this certain someone has donned the mask once more, things really start to get messy!

I highly recommend giving Incognito, a stand alone graphic novel, a read before the movie is released. It’s published under Marvel’s “Icon” imprint and is still deep in the pre-production phase, as 20th Century Fox has only just signed on screen writer Robert Shenkkan to come up with the adaptation. It’s worth noting that Shenkkan won a Pulitzer Prize for his play The Kentucky Cycle.

So much cool movie news! What do you think about all the excitement?

The trailer looks good and it’s cool that a Goonie is playin’ Jonah Hex lol I actually thought it would be a little darker of a film but I guess that wouldn’t be a great decision financially for the studio.

The Thor pic actually impressed me the first time I saw it and at least in terms of the look I guess they’re getting as close as possible, I bet that helmet is a pain to wear though

I actually saw the Icognito graphic novel on FCBD and passed on picking it up but if it’s as good as everyone says it is I might give it try.

Thor is a character that didn’t interest me at all as a kid, but the more I hear/see about the Thor film, the better it sounds/looks. I hope they pull it off.

    Incognito sounds good.

Am I wrong or didn’t Jonah Hex have a really $%## up eye as well?
