The CW is giving us another potentially great superhero show with the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow! Scheduled to debut in 2016 the cast boasts some of the favorite secondary characters from The Flash and Arrow television series. So we’ll be seeing Atom, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Firestorm, and everyone’s favorite Canary, Sara Lance! She’s back from the grave and will be White Canary! Newcomers to the screen will be Rip Hunter and Hawkgirl and quite possibly more.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
So who is the “immortal threat” this unlikely team will have to face? Well, it’s none other than Vandal Savage! The caveman that gained immortality and genius from the radiation given off from a meteorite. He’s been a constant threat to many of the DC Comics heroes since his appearance in Green Lantern #10 back in 1944. Though Savage has been the antagonist in Young Justice and other DC animated films it will be refreshing to see a villain that has yet to be on the movie screen or used hundreds of times over.
Here’s the first look trailer for the series!

This is a show?
I thought it was just a multi-part cross-over thing
I like most of this concept. And what I’ve seen from Arrow and Flash. BUT, why is Black Canary’s mom back from the dead as White Canary and why does THE ATOM basically look and act like Iron Man now?
She’s Laurel’s sister, Sara, not mother and Atom has an armored looking suit and seems to be an amalgam of Ray Palmer and Ted Kord.
You have some severe catching up to do if you’re asking these questions.
Sara’s NOT my favorite Canary but I’m glad she’s back. Maybe they’ll give her some much needed personality (and League of Assassin backstory) outside of her costume. Watching Sara in her daily life was like watching a fishtank.
Also good to see Martin, Rip Hunter, and Hawkgirl. The others however, couldve stayed recurring players.
I liked Sara in her Canary persona but your’e right about the personal side of things. However, it’s still better than Laurel’s screen time any day! lol
