The newest trailer for the long awaited Dark Phoenix film gives us plenty of Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) struggling as her growing power is threatening her loved ones and the world. Behind all of this is Jessica Chastain’s mysterious character who seems to be influencing Jean to fully embrace this power and become a god among men despite the consequences and potential to destroy everything. Chastain’s character has been the center of debate as of late since fans were saying she might be a version of “Mastermind” (a member of the Hellfire Club who helped bring Jean’s dark nature to the surface in the comics) or questioning if she’s even human, since the X-Men will also be in space where Jean comes in contact with the Phoenix Force.
Since this is Fox’s second attempt at this iconic story we’ll see where it’s headed and give it a chance. Are you still going to see Dark Phoenix when it hits theaters? Let us know in the comments below!
Official Dark Phoenix synopsis:
In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.
