HBO Max ‘Green Lantern’ Series to focus on Alan Scott, Jessica Cruz, & Guy Gardner!

HBO Max looks to be the new home for most things DC live action and animated lately and the list of shows keeps coming. Last year Green Lantern was announced as one of those shows and now it’s confirmed that the new DC Comics series will debut on the network in ten one hour episodes to tell the story

The focus will be on DC’s first Green Lantern, Alan Scott along with Guy Gardner, Kilowag, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and several others. However, the bigger names like John Stewart and Hal Jordan haven’t been mentioned to appear on the live action series. This might mean that they’re being saved for an upcoming film appearance instead so fingers crossed on that one. Check out the official statement below:

“From HBO Max, DC, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television comes a bold adaptation of the iconic comic book franchise, a saga spanning decades and galaxies. GREEN LANTERN will depict the adventures of a multitude of Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott — Earth’s first Green Lantern, who, true to the comics, is a gay man — and many more. The series will also include fan favorites such as Sinestro and Kilowog, and will also introduce new heroes to the ranks of the Green Lantern Corps.”

Seth Grahame-Smith (IT, Childs Play) has been named the showrunner for Green Lantern and will also co-write the series with Marc Guggenheim (Arrow). Lending itself to an episodic series might be what Green Lantern needed so let’s be hopeful these two can pull it off along with some solid casting.

And speaking of casting, that has yet to be announced for the series but hopefully one of the new heroes mentioned will be Far Sector’s Sojourner “Jo” Mullein and we’ll get to see a live action version of the character. There’s also no specific release date for Green Lantern as of yet but stay tuned and let us know what other Lanterns you’d like to see make an appearance in the upcoming series!
