Toy fair has come and gone but it has shed light on a rivalry that has leap from the toy aisle to the big screen. Lego has put our 4 big screen movies so far with the latest currently in theaters now. One of their toy rivals Playmobil has decided that this year they are also gonna put out their own film based upon their line of play and has centered their Toy Fair 2019 presence around the film which is due in theaters August 7th.
Based on this trailer the movie reminds me of 80’s films like the Never Ending Story and Labyrinth where the main charters get sucked into a literal world of adventure. The playsets look great and look set to bring young movie goers back into the world of the film.
Marla with Horse, Rex Dasher with Parachute
Rex Dasher’s Porsche Mission E, ROBOTITRON WITH DRONE
Charlie with Prison Wagon, Del’s Food Truck
Emperor Maximus in the Colosseum, Marla and Del with Flying Horse
Marla in the Fairytale Castle
Hands down the playset with the Rex Dasher and Porsche is my favorite. All of the sets and blind bag min-figures will be in stores around the same time as the movie in August.
Aside from the Playmobil Movie Playmobil has new playsets featuring characters from various films that are sure to have crossover appeal with collectors.
How To Train Your Dragon
Dreamworks How To Train Your Dragon is back with with Playmobil as the latest sets bring forth the world seen in How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. All sets are available this month.
Hiccup and Toothless with Baby Dragon, Deathgripper with Grimmel

Ghostbusters
Ghostbusters are celebrating it’s 35th anniversary and in honor of the occaion Playmobil has a new version of their trademark vehicle, the Ecto-1A seen in Ghostbusters 2.
This set is huge. It comes with all four Ghostbusters in their Ghostbusters 2 uniforms. The Ecto-1A has a light up announcement board on the detachable roof. Also through the Playmobil app four different ghost can be projected into the ghost trap to capture.
There is also a collectors four pack set of Ray Stantz, Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddemore. This is a perfect set for kids and collectors who Gotta Have It! in their collections. Each figure is also sold separately but come on get the box set of the four.
