Gotta Have It! Statue Edition: Rogue Bishoujo

A KOTOBUKIYA Japanese import! From the pages of the X-Men comes the powerful and gorgeous mutant ROGUE, the first in an exciting new series of Marvel Comics superheroines presented in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style. This original design has been specially created by the incomparable illustrator Shunya Yamashita. Fans should be familiar with Yamashita-sensei’s style as Japan’s leading Bishoujo artist, from his art books, video game work, as well as multiple figural collaborations with Kotobukiya.

The sexy Rogue is dressed in her iconic green and yellow skin-tight X-Men costume, which highlights her voluptuous curves – as well as keeping her covered to avoid absorbing the powers and memories of others who come into contact with her skin. She stands atop a stylish, minimalist white base, one leg perched seductively to accent her shapely leg. The mutant’s long hair floats behind her as she raises one hand to her beautiful Bishoujo-styled face.

Masterfully sculpted by Koei Matsumoto, Rogue stands 7 3/5 inches tall (1/8 scale). Sold in an attractive window box and constructed of high-quality PVC and ABS plastics, the mutant is just the first in this amazing new line. The variant “Long Coat” version is limited to 1000 pieces.

Kotobukiya is renowned for its unique and seriously seductive take on iconic comic characters across multiple universes. With a Marvel collection featuring Dark Phoenix, Scarlet Witch, Psylocke, and Black Widow, Kotobukiya gives Rogue her very own sculpt, and does her justice.

A variant based on the first Bishoujo statue, this version of Rogue features a long jacket and is limited to only 1,000 pieces. She stands 7 3/5 inches high across a simple yet clean white base. The base is light and a bit flimsy to the touch, but compliments the statue well.

Eye-popping and vivid, the brilliant colors are painted with care and convey a rich, solid uniformity throughout. Her face is particularly well painted, successfully displaying a strong, but tortured persona. No bleeding is detected and even the finest detail is executed with care. Well done!

The fine point of this statue is apparent in Koei Matsumoto’s sculpt. A voluptuous body fitting into thigh high boots and flowing jacket go hand in hand with the details in her wind-blown locks and simplified face. The sculpt on her body alone is fantastic (and beyond sexy), but the true beauty lies within the folds and creases of the fabric, boots, and gloves on the figure.

Rogue is available for purchase at many online retailers and in select comic stores. Limited to only 1,000 pieces, she won’t be around for long. $49.99 is a good price to snatch her up for right now – no telling how much she’ll shoot up once her numbers begin to dwindle.

Kotobukiya once again nails it with this re-imaged version of Rogue. I am quite fond of many of their iterations, Rogue being no exception. Now, I’ll just wait patiently for a Gambit to play w-, er, I mean stand next to Rogue on my shelf.

This is a pretty hot Rogue statue, but the face doesn’t look enough like Rogue to me. Great colors and body.

Kotobukiya makes some of THE best statues around! This one is no exception and looks great for the price too. Nice one Melissa!

This whole line is fantastic. I’ve been craving the regular edition of this figure ever since I saw it in Previews, but I’ve pretty much resigned myself to never having the extra cash for it.
