Aquafadas: A Whole New Reading Experience

Aquafadas: A Whole New Reading Experience

What if there was a quick, easy, and extremely cost-efficient way to integrate video, music, images, slideshows, and more into an interactive application designed to blend fluidly with your digital comics; and is compatible with most, if not all, mobile devices (like smartphones and tablet computers)? That would be pretty cool, right?

Well, it is already happening today, right now, as you read this column, munch on some chips, and watch TV. People are enjoying this multi-tasking application, and it’s all thanks to Aquafadas, a forward-looking company that is designing software to enrich our digital reading experience.

“People want to hold something beautiful in their hand,” said Rainer Heckmann, general manager of Aquafadas Inc. “It’s another way to display art. Tablet computers are multi-media and we can use them to create a richer user experience.”

Aquafadas, in the proverbial nutshell, has its headquarters in France and opened its first U.S. office in January in New York City. The company’s partnership with AveComics places Aquafadas at the leading edge of the rapidly expanding digital comic book universe.

Aquafadas specializes in digital publishing software that offers an easily accessible method for creating and customizing applications for Android-based devices, iPads, and iPhones. And perhaps the best part is that you don’t have to be a basement-dwelling code writer to take full advantage of them.

The company’s software is compatible with QuarkXPress and Adobe InDesign, supports many of the new web readers, such as ePUB3 ebooks and Apple iBooks 2, and is absolutely, 100 percent free to use. Aquafadas generates revenue via a one-time licensing fee when the application makes its way to the Apple App Store.

“We wanted to give users a digital comics’ reader that was more than just flipping pages,” Heckmann said. “We’ve moved from a have-to-be-there (company) to what-more-can-we-do-now on tablets (company).”

And did I mention that it’s free to use?
