Injustice 2 #3
Publisher: DC
Writer: Tom Taylor
Artist: Daniel Sampere
Colorist: Rex Lokus
Cover: Bruno Redondo & Alejandro Sanchez

There aren’t many video game tie-in comics that impress me regardless of how good or great the game is. However, after reading Injustice: Gods Among Us Year One I wasn’t going miss out on Tom Taylor writing Injustice 2! Three issues in and it’s just as wild and unpredictable as it should be with Superman set to break out of his prison and the Suicide Squad on a rampage led by a Batman who isn’t shy about using a gun or two. But the great part about all of this is that Taylor also offers up a great twist in this issue and the misdirection pays off fantastically in the end. Almost as good as the interaction with the main Batman and Superman as one of the 23 contingency plans is implemented to keep the Man of Steel in his place. This particular one involving the Atom and shoving some kryptonite in an uncomfortable place!

Daniel Sampere’s visuals keep things moving along and looks good in the process. His work along with Rex Lokus’ colors give the weight needed to carry the exchange between Superman and Batman and make it a standout sequence. Harley reuniting with Black Canary and Green Arrow is filled with humor and tears which Sampere pulls off effortlessly.

Injustice 2 is a video game tie-in that is worth the time and might even give a hint or two as to who else will show up in the game. So if you checked out Taylor’s run on Injustice: Gods Among Us Year One then I highly suggest you get on board with this series.

So Atom shows up in the comic so does that mean we’ll be seeing him in the game too? There are rumors he’s supposed to be a DLC character.
