It’s the first issue with Chris Sebela writing Ghost solo. I’m excited for a new issue, and to see how the series fares under his sole writing. How does it hold up? What new adventures do we have to look forward to? Let’s find out!

Going to get this out right now: Sebela does a great job. Elisa is tired of fighting normal criminals since she finds them to be no challenge, and she knows there are demons hiding out there somewhere. The rest of the gang tries to find something until Tommy comes across an old schlock TV show host with a horror theme that may just fit the bill. Having the possible villain be a late night horror show TV host is great; that’s just my kind of story.

This feels like the best 1980s horror film or TV show that never was until now. I’m excited to see where this story goes, especially with how this issue ends. No spoilers, but I am hooked to see how this plays out. That’s the kind of ending where I was thinking that either way, I want to see what is going on here. As someone who grew up watching such TV hosts and still loves finding the modern era versions of these ghastly hosts, this is a story almost built perfectly for me.

The art is top notch, with mostly a new team for art. Jackson stays on doing colors, but the others got the feel for the series and know how to draw all the right things for this book. Van Ghastly’s horrors are gross without being over the top for the sake of shock. There’s awful violence, but it fits the feel of the scene where it’s on the edge of unreal. Jackson still has a stellar use of colors.

I’m excited to continue with Ghost in this new arc and want to see where it goes from here. This seems like a big jump in villains if they are what they seem, which if you know what’s happening, why would they be? Here’s hoping you enjoy it even half as much as I did, because if so, then you’ll be happy with what you get.
