Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 3/24/2010

Welcome to Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews. Here you can find out what we here at ComicAttack.net thought of this past week’s books in 140 characters or less! Make sure to come back each week to see what we have to say about the latest comics!

Amazing Spider-Man #626 (Marvel)
Aron: This was a truly boring point in The Gauntlet. I think I yawned.

Batman Streets of Gotham #10 (DC)
Andy: An intense read starring Damian and new guy, Abuse. It’s nice to see this title gain some solid momentum.

Breaking into Comics the Marvel Way #2 (Marvel)
Andy: A very inspiring read and worth checking out- especially if you plan to work in this industry.
Aron: Known writers. Rookie artists. Both fail. Except FF art and Frank Tieri’s return to Deadpool! Deadpool art was good, too!

Captain America #604 (Marvel)
Andy
:
Feels like a classic Cap book and I’m enjoying the ride. Fans of The Falcon will especially dig it.
Aron
: Mess with The Falcon and you’ll get the Redwing! Never had much use for the Nomad backup story.

Deadpool #21 (Marvel)
Andy
: Deadpool and Hit-Monkey- the show down! A flat ending to an otherwise entertaining Spidey/’Pool team-up story.
Aron
: Spidey! Deadpool! Hit-Monkey! ‘Nuff said!

Donald Duck and Friends #352 (BOOM!)
Decapitated Dan: Mystery, Suspense, Intrigue and Action? Wow this is a surprise winner!

FVZA #3 (Radical)
Decapitated Dan: What an awesome finish to this amazing mini. Yet another winner for Radical!

Fade to Black #1 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: Not impressed. Didn’t like the art and the story was just okay.

Fall of the Hulks: Red Hulk #3 (Marvel)
Aron: An excellent episode of “Rick Jones, This is Your Life!”

Futurama #48 (Bongo)
Decapitated Dan: Oh Dr. Zoidberg, your one silly crustacean.

G.I. Joe #16 (IDW)
Andy
: An ok read, but I’m still not fully into this reboot by IDW…but I’m still onboard. Plus- Major Bludd!
Aron
: More like G.I. Slow #16! This one was boring!

Green Lantern #52 (DC)
Andy
: So awesome. Sinestro is bad ass!!
Aron
: I don’t know if I should cheer or fear. Is this a good thing?

Haunt #6 (Image)
Andy
: Mirage is one sexy femme-fatale. Totally digging this series.

John Constantine: Hellblazer #265 (Vertigo)
Aron
: I’m not quite sure what’s going on besides dirt and filth. But I’ll be back for next issue.

Justice League: The Rise of Arsenal #1 (DC)
Andy: Finally- we see how Roy lost his arm to Prometheus in Cry For Justice #5! Writer J.T. Krul certainly has a handle on the DCU’s archer family!
Aron: Woah! Powerful stuff! Glad they recapped for the non-Cry for Justice readers.

The Marvels Project #7 (Marvel)
Andy
: A well portrayed and beautiful looking story about the origins of the Marvel U. WWII buffs will especially love it.

Nemesis #1 (Icon)
Andy
: Woah, that’s some crazy shit right there. Nemesis would destroy Kick-Ass…and what’s with the penis extension?
Aron
:
I dunno. I haven’t decided. It’s not as cool as Kick-Ass, though. I promise you that.
Jeff: That could NOT have been Steve McNiven on art. Maybe Frank Quitely. What’s going on with my favorite artists this week?

New Avengers #63 (Marvel)
Andy
: And the Siege death toll continues to rise…(right?)
Aron
:
Lots of action! Lots of popcorn dialogue! Lady Octopus?! WTF?!

Orc Stain #2 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: LOVE IT! I don’t think there is a more visually stunning book out there than this.

Peter Parker #1 (Marvel)
Aron:
Story? Okay. Art? Better. Backup story? LAME! This is a web-comic reprint?! What?! PASS! Next!

Prelude to Deadpool Corps #4 (Marvel)
Aron: In the words of Al Snow…”What does everybody want?!” HEAD!

Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time #1 (Dynamite)
Andy
: Actually a good read. Lots of expo but I’m fully wrapped up in the story. Looking forward to #2!

Scalped #36 (Vertigo)
Andy
: Bold moves Mr. Aaron. Bold moves indeed. This issue shocks and awes which has been par for the course with this killer series.

Uncanny X-Men #522 (Marvel)
Andy: Nothing ever comes easy for the X-Men, does it? Welcome home Kitty!
Aron: An edge-of-your-seat homecoming before Second Coming!
Decapitated Dan: It just doesn’t make sense to me, and I’m still so bored with it all. Bring back the team books and I will forgive you Marvel.
Jeff: That could NOT have been Whilce Portacio on art. Did he have a stroke or something?

X-Factor #203 (Marvel)
Andy
:
The best X-book you aren’t reading. Monet and Strong Guy fans will love this one!
Jeff: This might have been the first issue of X-Factor that didn’t have Madrox in it. And it was STILL good!

X-Men Origins Nightcrawler #1 (Marvel)
Andy
: Decent, but unless you’re a Nightcrawler fan, skip it.
Jeff: Unnecessary retelling of Kurt’s origin. But the art was sweet!
