Today Conan the Cimmerian #17 comes out and it will be the first Conan comic book I will ever read. Yep, aside from the 1992 cartoon (with the theme song that went, “CONAN! The Adventurer!” with much fanfare) I am a virgin of the Cimmerian’s exploits and ventures. But after reading the interview published on Monday with Tim Truman, the writer and artist of Conan the Cimmerian (Tomas Giorello also does some art work on the title), I was genuinely impressed at how much of a fan of the character Truman actually is. It’s obvious when reading his words that he is serious about his work. He’s impassioned by it and it’s clear his drive is meant to serve only the story and the fantasy world Robert E. Howard created all those years ago. This type of dedication and ambition is something I can get behind as a comic book fan, and I’m looking forward to checking out Tim’s work today. Here’s a preview of the issue below:
This is a question for all the Conan fans out there: What are your all time favorite comic book stories starring Conan that you’d recommend to a new reader?

I’m loving all things Connan right now. I recently just scored a bunch of the old oversized Connan comics. But Dark Horse’s series is awesome!
I love most of Linsner’s stuff, but I think DH should have had someone else do the cover or maybe the interior artist…just doesn’t do it for me.
I was never really a big Conan fan but I thought the movies were cool…especially the ladies. I did see some of the old oversized issues at an antique shop and thought about buying them.
I agree with Ken about the cover however I do like the interior work. Did you like the issue Andy?
