What would you do if you had a clean slate? Anarky has come to Gotham and he’s looking to spread chaos. Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato continue to create a beautiful book in both terms of art and story. What they are doing with the story is absolutely perfect for this series. Focusing on the “Detective” aspect of the story, this book relies heavily on Batman’s journey across Gotham to get as many clues as possible to help him take down Anarky. Manapul and Buccellato also continue producing one of the best illustrated books at DC. 4/5

swamp thing 38Swamp Thing #38
Writer: Charles Soule
Artists: Jesus Saiz and June Chung
Cover Artists: Jesus Saiz
Publisher: DC

With Charles Soule’s run coming to an end, he’s holding absolutely nothing back. The Metal, led by their newly appointed Avatar, and the Grey have waged a war against Alec Holland and Abigail Arcane. Attacking them on dozens of fronts, the machines kept Alec and Abby busy while the Machine Queen, Anton, and Miki put their master plan in motion. Soule has done a tremendous job with his entire run and this final arc is no different. The Metal are a great new kingdom and are a wonderful addition to the Swamp Thing Universe. Jesus Saiz and June Chung illustrate a gorgeous book. The two of them make for an artistically fabulous pairing. While it’s sad to see such a great run near its end, Soule undoubtedly has two spectacular final issues in store. 4.5/5
