The “Throne of Atlantis” crossover event continues in this issue, as Aquaman struggles between the impending war between his past life and his present. With Atlantis fully pressing on in their desire to sink one of Earth’s major cities, the Justice League wants to go on the offensive. The inclusion of the Justice League in this series brings up a major problem that persisted throughout the first arc of the Justice League series. Geoff Johns still has problems juggling this team without sacrificing certain members for others. Atlantis was attacked, and all the heroes know this, which makes it that much more ridiculous that Superman and Wonder Woman are being so bullheaded and uncooperative, especially considering the two of them have gone through or will go through a similar situation of being torn between two worlds. And then there’s Batman, who’s actually the only one who helps Aquaman, and yet he’s the one Aquaman attacks. While there were strong aspects to the issue, the ending didn’t hold up. Pelletier, Thibert, Kessel, and Reis do a fantastic job with the art in this issue. The styling, layouts, and characterizations all really helped the story move along. 3.5/5

Atlantis has been attacked and they are prepared to sink the world in retaliation. The first chapter to “Throne of Atlantis” starts here, and it was an excellent issue. From the very first pages the issue had a very grand, epic feel to it, that was reiterated throughout the issue with everything that goes down. Atlantis, the sunken city, is able to unleash the fury of the sea in what seems like hours after being attacked, and with the oceans at their back there doesn’t seem like much anyone can do about it. Johns does a good job with the members of the Justice League in this issue, although he did end up writing Superman as an idiot. Ivan Reis’s illustrations, as usual, are absolutely gorgeous. He has a remarkable way of making everything look fantastic, from animals, to the water, to the superheroes. Prado and Reis also do a great job inking and coloring this issue, bringing a gorgeous book to the table. 4.5/5
