Action Comics #12 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: And the day is saved, thanks to a little girl with god-like psychic powers! B+
NickZ: Grant Morrison, what are you doing?
Age of Apocalypse #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Much better improvement over the last couple of issues and I’m liking this version of Monet!
Jeff: Monet finally shows up in the AoA and she’s awesome! This is a really fun book!
NickZ: I really like this book, but in the end it’s just another alternate reality that will not matter in the long run.
Animal Man #12 (DC)
Andy: Yes! Finally! The crossover we’ve been waiting a year for is here! A little exposition heavy, but it’s necessary and it picks right up in “Swamp Thing” #12. 3.5/5
Arnab: Flippin’ Fantastic! Everything you’d expect and more. A
Dr. Bustos: Team up with Swamp Thing! I need to buy that comic too. I could read about the Red and Green working together all the time. A
Avengers Academy #34 (Marvel)
Jeff: The team is majorly divided by Alchemist. This is looking like a good conclusion to this series.
NickZ: These cures were a little to convenient.
Avengers Vs. X-Men #9 (Marvel)
Arnab: Which Avenger worshiping “writer” came up with the idea for this issue? Oh, it was Jason Aaron who wrote this issue? Figures. C-
Infinite Speech: Spidey proves once again why he’s the man but Black Panther & Storm break up? WTF???
Jeff: There’s no way Spidey dupes 2 Phoenix-powered mutants to defeat one another. I like the idea of Peter stepping up to the plate, but that was ridiculous.
NickZ: Spider-Man beat Phoenix powered Colossus and Magik. WHAT!?! COME ON! REALLY?
Avenging Spider-Man #10 (Marvel)
NickZ: I think I’m done with this series. I want the book that was promised in issue #1.
Batman: Detective Comics #12 (DC)
Arnab: Goodbye Tony Daniel, your run was economically successful but nowhere near as great as your run on Batman.
NickZ: Daniel and Friend are doing a pretty good job on this series. How creepy was that Joker’s face back up story?
Batwing #12 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: I wish for Lord Battle to become some sort of anti-hero down the line. He’s too good to pass up.
Infinite Speech: I’m on the fence still but this was a better issue than the last few.
NickZ: This issue was pretty great, but I don’t think we need any more guest stars for a while.
Beasts of Burden One-Shot (Dark Horse)
Andy: It’s OK Dark Horse is selling the same thing twice here. It’s worth it! 3/5
Before Watchmen: Nite Owl #2 (DC)
NickZ: I loved the art and the story was great, but this books serve no real purpose other than to make DC money.
The Boys #69 (Dynamite)
Andy: Damn. This series is ending without pulling any punches. 4/5
Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: What was cool about this, is that it could totally happen in the real universe. This is why Deadpool is awesome. A-
NickZ: Just a bit of fun to see Deadpool killing the FF.
Deadworld: War of the Dead #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: If you’re new to the series then pick this up! If you’re a fan of the series pick this up!
The Defenders #9 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: The Swinging 60s! Nick Fury being a James Bond of old and working with our team! A
NickZ: I think this storyline has gone on for too many issues and it’s not even done yet.
Earth 2 #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Actually better than Justice League. Seriously. Oh, and Hawkgirl isn’t white anymore but DC already bragged about that months ago.
First X-Men #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Marvel and Neal Adams need to get those apology letters ready for those that read this.
Jeff: I thought the premise was interesting, but the delivery was extremely weak.
NickZ: For the love of Stan Lee, WHY? JUST WHY?
G.I. Combat #4 (DC)
Andy: It’s about dinosaurs eating people — it looks great, but words aren’t really necessary. 1.5/5
Green Arrow #12 (DC)
Arnab: This series is the biggest mess. There is little good to say about it. C-
Dr. Bustos: Green Arrow in China can have lots of fun, this Oliver in China was an interesting start. B
Hawkeye #1 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: One of the best short stories I’ve ever read, buy it. A+
Higher Earth #3 (BOOM!)
Andy: I wasn’t sold after reading #1, but then I read all three issues this week and I’m hooked! A great idea that has limitless potential. 3.5/5
Arnab: When I first started reading this series I thought “Well this is just Cable, when he and Hope were on the run,” I was wrong. B+
Invincible Iron Man #522 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Rescue and the new Iron Man team up sort of, I do love Rescue. A
Infinite Speech: Not much happens but still some stuff happens and who can tell me who the new Iron Man is??
Justice League International #12 (DC)
NickZ: Gonna miss the JLI team, but not this one.
Merciless: The Rise of Ming #3 (Dynamite Entertainment)
Infinite Speech: Merciless just gets better with each and every issue!
Mind the Gap #3 (Image)
Jeff: This book just isn’t holding my interest, even though I’m loving Esquejo’s art.
Smallville Season Eleven #4 (DC)
NickZ: This is the only good fix of Superman that I get in comic book form nowadays.
Spawn #222 (Image)
Infintie Speech: I really can’t express how great this series has become. Loving the slow reveals taking place and the great artwork.
Swamp Thing #12 (DC)
Andy: Sooo the team-up is only lasting an issue and a half!? I hope the Animal Man/Swamp Thing duo forms up again sooner than later. 4/5
Arnab: So damn good. Rotworld looks fantastic. A
Sweet Tooth #36 (Vertigo)
Andy: Mysteries are revealed and I’m a happy fan. 4/5
Ultimate Comics: Ultimate Spider-Man #13 (Marvel)
Andy: I still need this question answered: Why was so much fuss made about Parker not being trained, but Morales is free to do as he pleases as Spidey? WTF. 2.5/5
Dr. Bustos: I hope Miles starts working with the Ultimates. B+
Infinite Speech: Bendis and Marquez NAIL this issue with perfection! Too bad Cap was a total ass the entire time.
Jeff: Bendis and Marquez are just a perfect team. Great action, great comic moments, and BATROC ZEE LEAPER!
X-Factor #241 (Marvel)
Andy: I really appreciate how David finds ways to return to story elements that began years ago. He’s the best writer this team has ever had. 4/5
Arnab: I’m ready for a shakeup, luckily, it appears one is on the horizon. A-
Jeff: It’s time for Guido to go.
NickZ: Feels like some big changes are coming for this team. I hope Alex and Lorna get the boot.
X-Men #33 (Marvel)
Arnab: I have never hated Storm more. Plus, this book is completely out of the loop. C
Jeff: This story is so pointless.
NickZ: They did a big set up for Storm and Cyclops in this book but it will probably never play out after Avengers vs X-Men.

Spidey didn’t “beat” Colossus and Magik. He just convinced Magik to take try to take the power from Colossus. It makes sense since they saw that when one falls the power is transferred to the rest. Colossus was already in conflict with himself after his behavior in the last issue of X-Men Legacy and he even tried to take it easy on Peter in this issue. It wasn’t too far fetched and made for a pretty good ending. Though I’m pretty sure Peter will need Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, and every healer in K’un Lun to make him better.
Agree with you 100% about the guest appearences in Batwing, Nick. Getting tired of it and I want the issue to go back to focusing on Batwing’s problem and building that character.
I don’t like it. If the Avengers hadn’t been evading the Phoenix Five without a single casualty for the past four issues, maybe Spidey’s victory would have been a victory. But this is ridiculous.
Two super powered Phoenix Five/Four against 1 Spiderman and somehow he’s not dead? And these two weren’t nearly as crazy as Namor and if they were, Spidey would have been murdered, which he wasn’t, therefore they weren’t. Magik was reasonably in control and Colossus was about 40/60. But neither of them were so gone that their brother/sister bond wouldn’t have been enough to keep them from killing each other.
No, this was just another installment of “I love the Avengers” brought to you by team AvX.
