CHIRPBANNER1

Adventures of Superman #3 (DC)
NickZ: A really great Superman story about what it’s like to have super speed. The way the story was told with the Lex and Lois scene cut in between was pretty brilliant.

adventure time summer 1Adventure Time Summer Special #1 (Boom!)
NickZ: Several short tales of various AT characters that are each delightful in their own way.

Batman Annual #2 (DC)
Arnab: I really wish Zero Year was structured more like this issue.
NickZ: This was a waist of 5 bucks. Barely connected to Zero Year and not a great Batman story in general.

Batman: Detective Comics Annual #2 (DC)
Arnab: Oh Harvey, what are we going to do with you.
NickZ: This annual was pretty good. It introduced a cool new villain, explored Harvey Bullock, and told a decent Batman story.

Batman Inc. #13 (DC)
Arnab: Hot damn. The great thing about Morrison’s run is that there are lingering consequences, the universe didn’t just rewind itself 7 years.
Dr. Bustos: What an ending. What a forever. A+
NickZ: Interesting end to Morrison’s run. It was cool and weird and I’m glad it’s over.

Bedlam #8 (Image)
Arnab:
This book is freakishly good. Emphasis on the freak.
Jeff: I like that there has been a visual consistency on this book, even though Riley Rossmo isn’t doing this arc.

FF #10 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: The creative team of the book guest star for an adventure, love it. A
Jeff: Having Brevoort, Fraction, and Allred show up in the book felt a little self-aggrandizing.

gotg 5Guardians of the Galaxy #5 (Marvel)
Arnab: What’s an Angela? Also, that sassy Raccoon is my favorite.
Jeff: As fantastic as this book is, I can’t help but think it would only be better if Tony Stark wasn’t in it.
Jeff Lake: Angela debuts, Tony gets shut down, hilarity ensues. I’m really enjoying this book.

Indestructible Hulk #11 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Time-traveling Hulk should make the Earth a better place. A
Jeff: I really like the Hulk/Banner “team-up” scenario they have going here.

Sex #5 (Image)
NickZ: If you are okay with the mature content, this book is pretty darn entertaining.

Smallville Special #2 (DC)
NickZ: Lois and Lana have a team up of awkward proportions! Never a big Lana fan but Lois makes it worth it.

Superboy #22 (DC)
NickZ: Superboy goes back to hight school and shenanigans ensue.

Superman Annual #2 (DC)
NickZ: This is all just set up for the return of Brainiac, but not really worth five dollars.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #24 (IDW)
Arnab: “City Fall” has been abso-freaking-lutely brilliant. Amazing good stuff here.
Jeff Lake: Say it ain’t so, Leo! “City Fall” has been amazing, and this issue makes it personal. Read it!

Uncanny X-Force #9 (Marvel)
NickZ: Psylocke finally makes a decision on her Fantomex love problems so this book can finally get back to actual team problems.

Uncanny X-Men #9 (Marvel)
Arnab: Take that Dazzler! You filthy traitor, you! #teamCyclops #teamAwesome
Jeff: Somehow, Bendis has made me enjoy Dazzler, and all these new mutants.
NickZ: Dazzler pretty much sucks, but we already knew that. Interesting to compare how the X-Men dealt with Fabio vs how S.H.I.E.L.D. did and yet Cyclops is still considered the “terrorist”.

wake 3The Wake #3 (Vertigo)
Arnab: Scott Snyder is at his best when doing creator owned stories and Sean Murphy kills it on the art, again.
Jeff: Ok, the mermen are freaking me out now. Especially when they cast illusions. Creepy!
Jeff Lake: Damn, nature! You scary! Snyder and Murphy make the water terrifying again.
NickZ: This series is scary and great. Hollywood totally needs to make it into a movie and ruin it.

What If AvX #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: I was onboard with this series until the last 5 pages. It was cool seeing grown up Jean Grey again though.

X-Men #3 (Marvel)
Arnab: This book is great, but I hate Storm.
Dr. Bustos: A little anti-climatic but I enjoyed it overall. B
Jeff: Olivier Coipel’s art cannot get much better. This is the best I’ve ever seen from him, and I’ve loved everything he’s done.
NickZ: The X-Ladies rule! I’m am 100% behind this book and it’s lineup.

X-Men Legacy #14 (Marvel)
NickZ: Legion saves the day, begins to change the perception on mutants in Europe, and still ends up in jail.
