Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 07/23/14

Afterlife with Archie #6 (Archie)
Infinite Speech: There is absolutely no reason why you should not be reading this title.

Alien Legion: Uncivil War #2 (Titan)
Infinite Speech: A great series for long time fans. New readers might be confused.

amazing spiderman 4Amazing Spider-Man #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Finally, another Original Sin tie in that has some weight to it.
Jeff: This Silk character is cool and all, but this story seems so shoe-horned. I wish they had developed it more.

Archer & Armstrong #22 (Valiant)
Jeff: Pere Perez’s work gets stronger with every issue. He can do action and comedy like nobody’s business.

Batman #33 (DC)
Arnab: That last bit, with Alfred, was so good.
Jeff: The closing scene was fantastic, but I, for one, am so glad Zero Year is over!
Martin: 5/5 stars. @Ssnyder1835 and @GregCapullo finish off “Zero Year” with a phenomenal issue. Can’t wait to re-read the entire arc.

Batman and Robin #33 (DC)
Arnab: Silly Justice League, who do you think you are?
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. A huge cast guest-stars, including the new Justice League & Frankenstein. The Shazam moments are hilarious.

Batman Eternal #16 (DC)
Arnab: Possibly my least favorite issue yet.
Martin: 3/5 stars. Enough with Joker’s Daughter. Seriously. Enough. Can the Specter just kill her now? Please?

Daredevil #6 (Marvel)
Jeff: Matt has a nun for a mom? Somehow I didn’t know that.

Deadpool #32 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Just kidding. I didn’t waste my time with this Original Sin tie in.

Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor #1 (Titan)
Jeff: I really loved Elena Casagrande’s work and the intro to this new companion was original and exciting.

doctor who 1Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1 (Titan)
Infinite Speech: What’s not to like about The Doctor?!
Jeff: This is MY doctor. So glad to have him on a new adventure!

Justice League Dark #33 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Looking forward to a Dead Man-centric arc, but all the mystical bad guys are starting to feel the same.

The Flash #33 (DC)
Arnab: This series is slowly getting better and better.
Martin: 4/5 stars. I really like the constant shifting between Present and Future Flash, and the art is great. More Wally please.

Mighty Avengers # 12 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This Avengers title keeps getting better and better

New 52 Futures End #12 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I really like the concept of this series but there are just way too many story lines to keep straight.

Original Sins #4 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Skip it after you read the Doctor Doom story.

Original Sin: Thor & Loki #2 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Could have done without the Guardians cameo but was good nonetheless.
Jeff: A part of me just doesn’t care that Angela is connected to Thor and Loki.

saga 21Saga #21 (Image)
Arnab: If he splits up Marko and ALana, I will not be a happy camper.
Infinite Speech: I’m going to collect this series forever!
Jeff: More focus on Robot IV is nice, but the Marko & Alana stuff is boooring.

Skullkickers # 29 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Zub, Huang, and Coats deliver another great issue here!

Star Spangled War Stories Featuring G.I. Zombie #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. I actually like straight-up war comics, but this was a fun, more mystery-based story.

Storm #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Off to a good start lets see it continue!
Jeff: I was hoping for something other than another story of Storm rescuing a village from a government stooge.

Superman #33 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. The new creative team has really turned this book around in only 2 issues. A nice complementary book to Action.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time #2 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: If the trip to feudal Japan was this good I would watch the third Turtles movie a lot more.

Velvet #6 (Image)
Martin: 5/5 stars. As much as I like “cape-&-cowl” stories, this is once again my “comic of the week.” Fantastic art & a great character.

Wolverine & the X-Men #6 (Marvel)
Jeff: I couldn’t even finish this issue it was so bad.
