Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 06/11/14

All-New Ultimates #3 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: That was quite the long con to pull.

all new xmen 28All-New X-Men #28 (Marvel)
Arnab: This book is absolutely fantastic. Little Cyclops shouldn’t be on the cover though.
Infinite Speech:
This series is soooo great right now! Kind of like when Claremont and Lee were kicking ass with their X-Men stories!

Archer & Armstrong #21 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Van Lente and Perez have brought one of the most original story arcs to comics and everyone should be enjoying it!

Armor Hunters #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Brutal opening to the event so lets make sure it stays just as fun Valiant!

Astro City #13 (Vertigo)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Really great art blended with an unconventional out-of-order storytelling technique. And just a fun read overall.

Batgirl #32 (DC)
Arnab: When are we going to be rid of Knightfall?
Martin:
3.5/5 stars. A spectacular-looking book as usual, but the spy stuff really seems more like an ad for the new Grayson comic.

Batman Eternal #10 (DC)
Arnab: Man, that book looked god awful.
Martin:
3/5 stars. I normally like Burchielli’s art but it just didn’t work for me this time. The Jason Todd stuff seemed forced.

Deadpool #30 (Marvel)
Arnab: WTF, why the face?
Infinite Speech:
Well…

Detective Comics #32 (DC)
Martin: 3.75/5 stars. An absolutely beautiful looking book. I loved the Bullock scenes, but the plot just seemed a bit “off.”

Infinity Man & the Forever People #1 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. I wanted to like this, but nothing much happens & the characters didn’t intrigue me.

Justice League United #2 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. This is a really fun conclusion to the laborious Forever Evil storyline as well as a good jumping-on point.

Lumberjanes #3 (BOOM!)
Dr. Bustos: That was some great Dungeons and Dragons right there.
Infinite Speech: How can you NOT still be loving this title?!

mighty avengers 11Mighty Avengers #11 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I’m down to read a series about Luke Cage’s dad in the seventies fighting weird stuff with Blade and co.
Infinite Speech: Ewing delivers another issue that makes you want to come back for more!

New 52 Futures End #3 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. I dig this series but why is Mr. Terrific such a d-bag? They’re gonna have to start drawing him in a Trilby hat.

New Avengers #19 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The closest we’ll get to Avengers vs Justice League this decade and it’s been GREAT!

Original Sins #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: As a tie in to the event? Pass.

Royals: Masters of War #5 (Vertigo)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. The story rolls toward its conclusion with first-rate art & some really great character development.

She-Hulk #5 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: That escalated quickly and I think I prefer Shocker in a neutral capacity.

Superman/Wonder Woman #9 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. @TonyDanielx2 by far illustrates the best “Superdoom” of all the Superman books.

Tales of Honor #3 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Spectacular sci-fi series based on an even better novel! Pick this up!

uber 14Uber #14 (Avatar)
Infinite Speech: What’s NOT good about this series!
Martin: 4/5 stars. Hopefully I won’t get hate mail for this, but I think I prefer Gabriel Andrade’s art on this book. Very weird ending.

United States of Murder Inc. #2 (Icon)
Infinite Speech: Wow…that backfired pretty bad. If you don’t know what I’m referring to then you’re not reading this title and that’s a bad thing!

Wildfire #1 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Thank you Matt Hawkins for making the real world a lot more scarier than anything I can imagine.

Worlds’ Finest #24 (DC)
Martin: 2.5/5 stars. When did Huntress start to suck at taking down low-level street thugs? Isn’t that right in her wheelhouse?

X #14 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Damn this is one brutal series from Dark Horse that does NOT miss a beat!
