Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 01/20/16

Adventure Time Ice King #1 (Boom!)
NickZ: There are porn jokes in this book! That’s all you need to know.astro city 31

Astro City #31 (Vertigo)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Busiek uses a unique story-telling device of people talking about their nightmares to propel the story forward.

Batgirl #47 (DC)
NickZ: Really fun “girls night out”-like adventure featuring Batgirl, Spoiler, Bluebird, and Operator.

Batman #48 (DC)
Arnab: The word “finally” comes to mind.
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. What amounts to basically a conversation on a park bench between 2 mostly amnesiac characters actually really works.
NickZ: In an already extraordinary run, this issue was exceptional! So many feels and don’t get me started on that final page!

Batman & Robin Eternal #16 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Having to put three different artists with different styles hurt this issue, which otherwise was okay
NickZ: I figured out the problem with this series, there are way too many hands in the pot.

Doctor Fate #8 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Now that the 1st arc of Khalid saving the world is over, it’s fun to see him exploring his powers in this issue

I Hate Fairyland #4 (Image)
Infinite Speech: If you’re not having fun with this title then your sense of humor button is broken!

Imperium #12 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Imperium is too good for it’s own good!

The Legend of Wonder Woman #1 (DC)
NickZ: I loved this book. Lil’ Wonder Woman is so cute!

Martian Manhunter #8 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. The 1st arc of this was one of my favorites of the crop of DC You titles. This issue is good – not great.

poison ivy 1 Poison Ivy Cycle of Life and Death #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: It took long enough for her to get a series and it’s looking pretty good.
NickZ: This is shaping to be a good story. I love that Ivy and Harley are both equally smart and badass!

Postal #9 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: This issue is written soley by Bryan Hill & he continues to bring this thriller to new levels of greatness! If you didn’t know, now you do!

Robin: Son of Batman #8 (DC)
Arnab: Damian getting a haircut is just about the most adorable thing ever.
Martin: 3/5 stars. Basically a stand-alone issue with an okay story, but the art elevates it a bit.
NickZ: I’ve missed the interactions between Alfred and Damian.

Superman/Wonder Woman #25 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Diana brings Clark to Olympus to be saved by the gods. An interesting premise.
NickZ: I am so ever all the various transformations happening to Superman and I’m over this relationship.

Symmetry #2 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Hawkins & Ienco provide you with yet another great title from Top Cow!
NickZ: A lot of new twists on the dystopian/utopian futures that we haven’t seen before in other books and movies. I am very intrigued to see where it goes.

Titans Hunt #4 (DC)
NickZ: Not a bad series but I think It’s intended more for long time Titan fans.

Tokyo Ghosts #5 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Wow! Great ending to the first arc and I can’t wait to see what happens to Deb!

The Uncanny Inhumans #4 (Marvel)uncanny inhumans 4
NickZ: Whoa! This story was crazy and epic! I definitely can’t wait to see what the future holds for Ahura!

Uncanny X-Men #2 (Marvel)
Arnab: This book is just, not good.
NickZ: This series is pretty terrible. So many the people are written out of character, I don’t even know why they are together. And when did Elixir become the Kenny of the X-Men?

Wayward #13 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Tokyo Tower in flames, Rori is being controlled, new gods are kicking butt, & the creative team delivers another fantastic issue!

Wonder Woman #48 (DC)
NickZ: This felt like an odd throw-away issue but it was good to have Mrs. and Mr. Finch back together on this book.

Wrath of the Eternal Warrior #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Gilad has quickly risen to the top of my list of favs because of these great stories from Valiant.

What the hell is up with these X titles?? It’s to a point now where it seems as if they’re just going by the numbers and not really giving us anything to really get excited about. Yeah, I like Extraordinary X-Men but that’s only barely because of the time displaced Jean Grey being on the team.
