Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 11/13/13

CHIRPBANNER1anxm 18All-New X-Men #18 (Marvel)
Arnab: If and when they do go back, is everyone assuming Xavier won’t notice that they’ve all aged a couple months to possibly a year?
Infinite Speech: Don’t like that they’re still here BUT this was a good issue and the new costumes look great!
Jeff: I don’t care which “side” the Original X-Men are on…I just love what Bendis and Immonen are doing with them.

Archer & Armstrong #15 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: If those mutants traveled through time like Archer they would have a LOT more fun!
Jeff: Pub crawl through time. ‘Nuff said.

Astro City #6 (Vertigo)
Martin: Continues to be 1 of the books I most look forward to each month. Great character development for a one-off story.

Avengers Arena #17 (Marvel)
Jeff: The closer this gets to the end, the more nervous I am that it’s going to fall flat.

Batman #25 (DC)
Arnab: FCO’s colors stole the show this issue.
Dr. Bustos: New villain is terrifying meanwhile early days Bats is rocking the purple gloves again.
Jeff: The way Snyder told this story was very disjointed. I felt like I had missed an issue.
Jeff Lake: Great, as usual, though Riddler is noticeably absent. FCO’s colors are redonk.
Martin: Clever cover design over a really well-written and illustrated story and a creepy new villain introduction.

Cataclysm Ultimate Spider-Man #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Just a little more expansion on what we already know but a true example of “be careful what you wish for” at the end.
Jeff: In case anyone was wondering, this is the next issue of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man.

Forever Evil: Arkham War #2 (DC)
Martin: Much better than the 1st issue – more character development for Bane, Penguin, Man-Bat & Penguin.

Justice League of America #9 (DC)
Martin: Cool getting New 52 background on Stargirl. Other than that, this felt like a re-tread of issue #8.

mp 16The Manhattan Projects #16 (Image)
Arnab: How they hell are those geniuses going to get out of this alive?
Dr. Bustos:
This are not looking good for the team but they are looking interesting.

Manifest Destiny #1 (Image)
Jeff Lake: If history class had featured more stories like this I would have paid more attention. Solid debut.
Martin: Excellent character-work, both written & illustrated. Fun, fantastical surprises – I’m intrigued for #2.

Marvel Knights X-Men #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: I’d rather read that Longshot book from last week again.
Jeff: I don’t think I see the need for this story. What makes this “Marvel Knights?”

Mocking Dead #3 (Dynamite Entertainment)
Infinite Speech: If you’re not reading this then you’re not having any fun!

Other Dead #3 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: B-Movie FUN right here that’s good for several laughs and a nice twist on the whole zombie theme!

Phantom Stranger #13 (DC)
Martin: Some cool bits with the Question, but too much narration, and the story jumps around a bit too much.

Savage Wolverine #11 (Marvel)
Jeff: Stick to drawing, Jock.

Shaolin Cowboy #2 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: When your title character is wielding a staff with chainsaws attatched what REALLY needs to be said! So glad this series is back!

Superior Spider-Man #21 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Well things took a better turn before they took an even stranger one.
Infinite Speech: The series is great and Parker is still dead folks!
Jeff: I’m starting to think that Otto is the smartest guy in the Marvel Universe.

Thor: God of Thunder #15 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: I am really loving this D&D session.

Unity #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: You don’t need to know much about the characters to enjoy this issue!
Jeff Lake: Already more intriguing than your average event comic. Kindt’s story is great, can’t wait for more.

walking dead 116The Walking Dead #116 (Image)
Arnab: So, 1. Great plan. 2. Is it bad that I don’t care if she dies?
Jeff:
Someone please kill Holly. So annoying.

Watson & Holmes #5 (New Paradigm Studios)
Infinite Speech: Still one of my new favorite titles to come out this year!

X #7 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Get your street level crime drama fix right here! X does mark the spot!

X-Men Gold #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Gold? More like copper.
Jeff: It’s a miracle the X-Men got popular with these folks at the helm. Someone tell Claremont that Corsair’s first name is Christopher, not Nathan.

Maybe he had him confused with Cable, Jeff lol You gotta blame editorial as well though because that’s their job. To catch those types of mistakes. Kinda sad when you think about it since Claremont wrote several stories involving the guy.

    LOL…Gid…”more like copper.”
