Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 4/13/2011

Amazing Spider-Man #658 (Marvel)
Jeff: Spider-Man (in new FF costume): “C’mon! I look like Anti-Venom!” Hilarious!

Batgirl #20 (DC)
NickZ: Oh no, “The Compact”! This book is getting a little bit too cute for its own good.

Batman and Robin #22 (DC)
NickZ: A great end to ‘The White Knight”, loved the cowl-ears maneuver, and Damian was so great in this one! LMAO!

Birds of Prey #11 (DC)
NickZ: Poor Huntress, “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

Black Panther: The Man Without Fear #517 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech:
Not liking the similarities to Batman but I’m seriously loving the story so far! Liss and Francavilla put another great notch in the Panther’s belt!

Butcher Baker the Righteous Maker #2 (Image)
Andy: Like The Boys, but promising to be better. The art definitely is already.

Carbon Grey #2 (Image)
Andy: Hot, sexy art, but a muddy story. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but every page is an eye-gasm so it’s all good.

Cinderella Fables are Forever #3 (Vertigo)
Andy: A fun rivalry with Cindy and Dorothy is already a leg up on the previous Cindy mini, and the plot feels relevant.

Daken Dark Wolverine #8 (Marvel)
NickZ: Daken is a triple crossing bastard!

Deadpool #35 (Marvel)
NickZ:
‘Pool sacrifices all his limbs to save two civilizations and all he gets is……nothing.

The Flash #10 (DC)
Andy: I went in with my doubts, and I still have them. Although, this was better than I thought it would be. There’s just something unexciting about Flash on a motorcycle. This isn’t 1985.

G.I. Joe vol. 2 #0 (IDW)
Andy: Great call by IDW to scrap their current Joe line and just run with the G.I. Joe/Cobra continuity. A solid intro issue, setting up the next 3 titles.
Infinite Speech:
3 separate stories paving the way for Cobra’s new direction and I can’t wait!

Hawkeye: Blindspot #3 (Marvel)
Andy: So Hawkeye has a brother now? …and he looks like Red Arrow but acts like Arsenal. I just read a giant-size order of lame.

Iron Man 2.0 #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech:
Spencer’s story is still unfolding nicely. Too bad the new design for Rhodey’s new armor isn’t as good.

Journey Into Mystery #622 (Marvel)
Andy: Props to Gillen for cleaning up Fraction’s messes in Uncanny and now Thor. Also, props to him for realizing the best Thor stories usually don’t star Thor.

Justice League Generation Lost #23 (DC)
Andy: OMACs are lame…hopefully the conclusion to this series isn’t.
NickZ: Is it just me or is OMAC Prime just another Amazo? Dr. Ivo is just a one trick pony.

New Avengers #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech:
Nazis get their asses kicked. Mockingbird is dying. Bendis is writing the hell out of this book and it’s the only Avengers title that should be on your list!

Onslaught Unleashed #3 (Marvel)
Jeff: I thought Beast had been impaled like 14 times last issue? How is he up and walking around so quickly? And don’t give me that “healing factor” crap!
NickZ: Things just got deadly! That’s a win for Onslaught.

Outsiders #38 (DC)
NickZ:
It’s an Outsiders civil war!!….and you thought your team had problems.

Red Robin #22 (DC)
NickZ: Tim learned the value of a belief in God or maybe that honesty isn’t always the best policy?

S.H.I.E.L.D. Infinity (Marvel)
Andy: Mind = Blown…and I didn’t even understand it all.

Spawn #206 (Image)
Infinite Speech:
Demon ass was kicked as the story’s momentum was picked up! This new Spawn has won me over!

Superboy #6 (DC)
NickZ: Doomsday just handed Conner his ass. (Conner’s ass, not Doomsday’s. Was that not clear?)

Superman #710 (DC)
Andy: While reading this issue, I looked over to my left and saw a banana. I then stared at the banana for hours. Was reading that a waste of your time? Now you know how I feel.
NickZ: Best issue since the “Grounded” story line started! Loved the early Bruce/Clark Team up!

Ultimate Avengers vs. New Ultimates #3 (Marvel)
Andy: It amazes me how heroes can never just talk out their differences with each other. They always have to beat the living piss out of each other first…and that’s when kids die.

Ultimate Spider-Man #157 (Marvel)
Andy: It’s ok everyone! Calm down. Pete’s just going to return as the Iron Spider.

Uncanny X-Force #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: For all of you sleepin’ on Fantomex wake your ass up! This had one hell of an ending that brings up more questions about issue five’s ending!
Jeff: The last 5 pages makes this arc worth it. Deadpool is quickly becoming my favorite character in this book. I know, right?
NickZ: Another awesome issue!! The last page was a jaw dropper!

Uncanny X-Men #535 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech:
Great intro into a new arc but I’d rather have Armor on this trip back to Breakworld.
Jeff: YES! My Uncanny X-Men book is finally back! I forgot how awesome Whedon’s Breakworld stuff was, though. Hafta read that again!
NickZ: Finally this book doesn’t suck! Good riddance to Fraction!

The Unwritten #24 (Vertigo)
Andy: That was a killer issue! Holy awesome. Anyone can pick up this one and read it. It’s like, Fables meets 300.

X-Men Legacy #247 (Marvel)
Andy: So cool! I totally thought Age of X would be lame, but so far it’s proven that I love being wrong.
Jeff: The mystery is revealed in a very satisfying way. Age of X is officially one of Carey’s best Legacy stories.
NickZ: I had a lot of this pretty much figured out before the “Age of X” even started. What I don’t know is how it will end?
